Manufacturing Excellence Analyst

1. Purpose of the job: describe in 1 phrase what contribution the job is expected to make to the organisation’s objectives

 

The role maintains asset safety and operations performance in Asia, responds to Manufacturing Excellence Manager, Asset Managers, and Operations Director identifying irregularities / deviations from standards as well as co-ordinating multidiscipline technical supports through Technology Support Team to address issues, benchmarking, thus optimising Acetyls plants in support of safe, reliable and efficient/competitive operations. 

 

The post holder is accountable for gathering and analyzing assets data in the areas of safety, compliance, reliability, cost and efficiency to further improve manufacturing excellence of 5 Asia Joint Ventures. The role requires the post holder to work with Asset Managers from 4 different countries, languages and cultures. Additionally, the post holder also provides data analysis for Acetyls Safety and Operations Performance report as required from time to time.

 

The post holder works closely with the Asia Finance team and Shareholder office to benchmark the safety and operation performance data and provide analysis to ensure progress of annual performance KPI plan set for the joint ventures.

 

The post holder maintains the regional SHE and Reliability procedures, documents, records, and performance database, etc.

 

The post holder coordinates the regular safety and operation network meetings and share learning calls to share lessons and promote best practices cross the Asia Joint Ventures.

2. Environment/Context: describe the most important internal and external factors influencing the job

       

INEOS Acetyls Asia produces over 2.5 million tonnes per annum from 5 manufacturing locations across the globe and generates a typical EBITDA of > $150 million/annum. It has leading market positions in Asia. The post holder works in Acetyls Asia Manufacturing Excellence Team which operates supporting JV assets at 5 different locations across 4 different countries, languages and cultures. The post holder is based in Shanghai.

 

  • The JV Manufacturing Excellence team is responsible for providing technical support in the field of plant manufacturing excellence and to prioritize and drive the overall JV SHE agenda, sharing the best practices between INEOS operated sites and JV’s. The 5 JVs total asset value to be safely, reliably and efficiently protected is approximately $2.0 Billion.
  • This team is responsible for developing the overall strategies to influence the JV’s to embed the INEOS safety culture, and drive process safety improvement
  • This team works closely with the INEOS Acetyls Technology Support Team and JV’s to develop reliability strategies and improvement plan to further improve the JV’s reliability performance.
  • In addition, this team will also work with the INEOS Acetyls Technology Support Team and JV’s to progress cost and efficiency improvements

3. Accountabilities of the job: describe the main results expected from the job

 

 

  1. Provide periodic Assets Performance Reports and analysis for Acetyls Asia.
  • Integrate JV data into INEOS SHE and Production reporting systems e.g., INEOS Group SHE Reporting Tool and Meridium.
  • Collect , analyze and challenge SHE, reliability, TAR, operations efficiency data to identify and recommend improvement opportunities and implement practical solutions through working with JV sites and relevant professionals from Manufacturing Excellence (ME) and Technology Support Team. 
  • Improve SHE and Production Loss reporting as per INEOS and Acetyls reporting requirements through working with JVs and Manufacturing Excellence professionals.
  • Co-ordinate input /report asset sustainability data into INEOS.
  • Prepare weekly / monthly manufacturing reports for Head of Asia Acetyls and Acetyls Operations Director.
  • Produce Monthly Safety & Manufacturing Performance Report.
  • Facilitate JV sites efficiency improvement plans & programs to achieve short/ long terms goals through working with JV sites and relevant professionals from ME and Technology.
  1. Provide Asset operational analyses and short-term operational support/troubleshooting.
  • Deep dive data analysis for troubleshooting support and input root cause failure analysis and incident investigation for Acetyls Assets
  • Co-ordinate input from discipline engineers within the Technology Support Team and access to operating experience from other assets

 

  1. Facilitate JV Assets Annual Budget preparations and reviews.

 

  • Coordinate the preparations for Annual Production budget reviews, including the follow through of the deliveries during the year.
  • Coordinate Capex Portfolio Management Review and Assurance.
  • Support CapEx, Maximum Production Rate (MPR) changes and reliability assurance.
  • Liaise with The Senior Optimisation Engineer for the assurance of JV technical KPIs based on the Roadmaps in the Capex.
  • Support Manufacturing Excellence Manager on assuring JVs to deliver SHE, reliability and capex priorities, implementation plan and performance in accordance with objectives set. 
  1. Coordinate Asset Site Peer Reviews, Audits and Visits

 

  • Coordinate Assets Peer Reviews – Turnaround (TAR), projects
  • Coordinate INEOS site audits/assurance reviews for JVs, such as Asset Care & 20Ps audits, HAZOP/ LOPA, etc. 
  1. Organize SHE/Reliability Networks on sharing and actions follow ups (internally/externally)
  • Role model INEOS behavioral safety principles, life saving rules and influence INEOS Acetyls JV assets to adopt these standards.
  • Coordinate Acetyls SHE & reliability learning networks to share internal and external lessons learned to avoid reoccurrence and maximize value of sharing. 
  1. Act as SPA for procedures, records and data repository for Asia Manufacturing Excellence Team

 

  • Ensure availability latest updates of documented procedures, guidelines, protocols or expectation, reports, etc.
  • Documents are updated and well kept with ease of access.

4. Required profile:

 

Level of education & Experience in general

 

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in engineering / science

 

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with chemical plant operations or maintenance and / or process safety knowledge is essential to demonstrate the level of operational credibility required to positively influence JV behavior

  • Track record of technical excellence and analytical skills in manufacturing environment.

 

  • Demonstrate knowledge of industrial standards / applicable local standards in the area of safety and manufacturing.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in influencing others and working with people at all levels.

 

Technical skills

  • Basic knowledge of the chemical plant operations and maintenances
  • Asset performance benchmarking experience
  • Troubleshooting skills based on the ability to analyse data and apply a good understanding of principles to identify possible root cause or improvement opportunities.
  • Understanding of capital project processes with experience of major capital projects an advantage
