INEOS Composites is a global chemicals business with sales volume of 320 kte and revenue in excess of $1 billion.  The Composites business has 6 manufacturing operations in the US, 1 in Brazil, 4 in Europe, 2 in China along with offices and headquarters in Ohio, Barcelona and Shanghai. The Composites Business primary products include unsaturated polyester resins (UPRs), vinyl ester resins (VERs) and gel coats. 

INEOS has an opportunity for a Maintenance Supervisor at our Los Angeles plant.

Job Summary

The Maintenance Supervisor at our Los Angeles plant is responsible for preventative and corrective maintenance for the entire facility.  This role will supervise and develop a team of 5.   The site is currently in a sold-out position and increasing production capability to meet strong market demand.  This role will participate with the plant team to develop innovative approaches to that end.  The successful candidate will have a great deal of latitude in establishing processes and procedure that improve the plant’s reliability and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Embraces the culture of prevention and follows all safety rules and procedures to work safely on all tasks
  • Ensure compliance with all plant safety policies for the maintenance employees and any contractors performing maintenance activities
  • Assign and directly supervise the hourly maintenance employees
  • Issue the appropriate safe work permits (line break, hot work, etc.)
  • Be thoroughly knowledgeable of the union contract and perform the first line responsibility of administration of this contract
  • Conduct the necessary pre-job inspections and reviews with maintenance personnel
  • Utilize the sites CMMS to schedule and track preventive and corrective maintenance activities
  • Coordinate maintenance activities with production personnel to meet timing needs and equipment availability
  • Develop and execute the maintenance work process so that planning, scheduling and performance of maintenance work is coordinated and communicated in the most effective and efficient manner
  • Communicate status and completion of maintenance activities
  • Utilize contractors to supplement maintenance activities as needed and direct their safe work activities
  • Monitor maintenance activities to ensure safety, quality of work, and timeliness
  • Conduct thorough and appropriate department safety meetings with employees
  • Maintain  and inventory all tools and equipment
  • Be knowledgeable in administering all first line responsibilities of corporate and plant policies
  • Provide recommendations/feedback for reliability improvements and any additional training to improve the maintenance work group
  • Coordinate purchase and expediting of maintenance materials, including spare parts and tools

Requirements:

  • 7 years’ experience in maintenance in manufacturing environment with at least 3 years in a supervisory role; chemical plant experience preferred
  • 3+ years of experience planning/coordinating and scheduling maintenance projects and/or turn arounds.
  • Experience in all areas of maintenance including electrical and instrumentation, mechanical,
  • Must high school diploma; Associate or Bachelor’s degree a plus
  • Lean Sigma (5S) certification is preferred
  • Familiarity with maintenance software like Maximo as well as Microsoft Office
  • Team player able to oversee multiple projects and tasks simultaneously while adapt to changing priorities
  • Physical requirements including climbing stairs and ladders, working outside in varying climates, and working at heights,
  • Able to work overtime including nights and weekends when needed
