ABOUT OUR OPPORTUNITY

The role of Maintenance Specialist & Planner (Mechanical) involves coordinating and planning maintenance and turnaround (TAR) activities across the Polymers asset.

Key responsibilities include delivering safe, efficient maintenance plans to meet site KPIs for safety, health, environment (SHE), costs, availability, reliability, and quality.

The role requires interaction with contractors, workshop supervisors, craftsmen, and Control of Work Teams, and includes supervising contractor on-site activities.

Key accountabilities

  • Coordinate a 3-month rolling maintenance schedule and deliver a fully engineered 2-week plan optimized for safety, productivity, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Plan and pre-engineer all maintenance tasks, ensuring risk assessments, method statements, work packs, materials, tools and SIPs resources are ready.
  • Monitor progress against the schedule, address issues affecting scope, progress, quality, or cost, and maintain compliance with statutory and integrity requirements.
  • Maintain accurate asset and work history data in Maximo for effective planning and reporting.
  • Coach team members on Maximo and maintenance workflow processes.
  • Input asset 3rd party requirements into the site-wide planning/scheduling network to optimize resource loading.
  • Manage the weekly maintenance budget for services and materials, with monthly input into cost reports.
  • Scope and estimate work, ensuring it is cost-effective and authorized according to agreed processes.
  • Ensure full compliance with KPIs and timely completion of any statutory work.

ABOUT YOU

Required:

  • A time-served maintenance background with strong communication, organizational, and networking skills.
  • Be educated to HNC level in an engineering discipline or similar. In lieu of formal qualifications suitable relevant experience is required in a similar environment
  • Proficient in Maximo, Primavera, and other scheduling tools, with a detailed understanding of maintenance workflows.
  • Strong budgeting and cost-control knowledge, with a track record of successfully delivering projects such as plant outages and TARs.
  • Ability to coordinate multi-disciplinary teams, work under pressure, and take initiative in leading tasks beyond defined responsibilities.
  • Flexible and willing to accommodate personal inconvenience to support both planned and unplanned work.
