INEOS has an opportunity for Maintenance Mechanic II position at our Los Angeles, CA plant.

Job Function

The Maintenance Mechanic is a critical part of our plant’s maintenance team, you will work with production personnel and contractors to maintain and repair equipment as needed. This position is also accountable for the proper operation of plant equipment. Inadequate performance could result in injuries to the employee, people around, the community or the environment.  Poor performance can also cause damage to equipment, and downtime.  This would cause loss of product or product out of specifications.  This is role reports to the Maintenance Supervisor.

Responsibilities include:

  • Perform equipment repair and troubleshooting; including corrective and other daily miscellaneous maintenance activities as assigned.
  • Participate in the plant’s preventive maintenance program.
  • Monitor spare parts inventory.
  • Assist in planning, directing, and participating in plant turnarounds.
  • Maintain proper housekeeping and cleaning in area to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Participate in team efforts to improve safety, employee satisfaction, quality, and productivity.
  • Successfully complete introductory and ongoing safety training.
  • Understand and comply with OSHA regulations such as hot work and Lockout/Tagout, as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Forklift, Scissor lift and Boom Lift operation.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3-4 year previous work experience as an industrial maintenance mechanic.
  • Basic Welding, soldering & flame cutting skills.
  • Knowledgeable in Pipe fitting.
  • Proficient in the safe use and operation of pipe threading machine, hydraulic press, drill press, hand tools (wrenches, ratchets, crowbars, etc.), saws, etc.
  • Must be able to tell apart materials (Carbon vs. Stainless Steels, Galvanized, PVC, etc.) and name fittings (nipples, elbows, unions, etc.).
  • Basic understanding of Steam producing systems & applications (traps, condensate pumps, etc.).
  • Pump and valve knowledge – must be able to name types used in the plant and understand operation, previous experience disassembling & re-assembling.
  • Knowledgeable in Pipe sizing and thicknesses.
  • Knowledgeable in Flanging and gasketing.
  • Knowledgeable in bolting and torquing (Must be able to explain the torquing process).
  • Must be comfortable safely working at height, at times with only harness & lanyard.

Desired qualifications

  • Post secondary vocational training relevant to industrial maintenance
  • Knowledge of safety procedures (i.e.: lockout, line breaking, hot-work and confined space entry)
  • Knowledge and Understanding of boilers and cooling systems (Cooling towers, Chillers)
  • Basic electrical knowledge
  • Knowledge and understanding of Gas Analyzer maintenance and Thermal Oxidizer maintenance

Other Requirements

  • Must be willing to work overtime, weekends and call-ins as required
  • Must be able to read and understand diagrams and other complex drawings and manuals
  • Must be able to perform the essential physical requirements of the position, not limited to lifting 50 lbs., walking/standing/lifting for prolonged periods, wearing personal protective equipment including respiratory equipment in accordance with the INEOS Respiratory Protection Plan
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, and mathematical skills
  • Ability to read and write English
  • Ability to work with computers
  • Requires minimal supervision
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical, and background check
