Purpose of the Job
The Logistics Specialist is responsible for supporting the Logistics & Customer Service Manager and the Logistics team with the execution of specific logistics functions. This includes coordinating methanol deliveries, overseeing daily truck operations, and approving prior cargoes for trucks and iso-containers. Additionally, the role provides back-up support to the Truck and Terminal Manager and the Inventory and Export Coordinator.
B. Environment/Context
INEOS Acetyls Americas manages and supplies over 530,000 tonnes of product per annum from one U.S. manufacturing location, utilizing 7 terminals and transloads across the Americas, and marine exports to Mexico, South America, Europe, and Asia. The company holds the leading acetic acid market position in the U.S.
Internal factors:
The Americas business includes an acetic acid manufacturing plant in Texas City, TX with a capacity of 600 kt, in addition to importation and sales of acetic anhydride and ethyl acetate across the region.
Supply partners are critical to business success. Close cooperation with manufacturing facilities is required to ensure optimal production planning and asset competitiveness. Strong commercial relationships with third-party providers, including railroads, carriers, terminals/transloads, and freight forwarders, are necessary to maintain a competitive offer and optimize the supply chain.
External factors:
- Compliance with regulatory and customs requirements for exports and imports.
- Maintaining strong relationships with strategic logistics partners in the Americas.
- Ensuring reliable, efficient supply chain solutions while maintaining reliability in a constrained rail, truck, and marine environment.
C. Accountabilities of the Job
1. Safety
- Adhere to INEOS Behavioral Safety Principles.
- Support compliance with INEOS Life Saving Rules in all interactions with carriers, terminals, and transloads.
2. Inventory Coordination
- Manage key feedstock inventory to ensure optimal supply to meet production plans.
- Prepare and issue voyage orders, including loading and discharging instructions.
- Manage all aspects of delivery, ensuring compliance with safety requirements and product quality.
- Maintain daily working relationships with suppliers.
- Set railcar loading plans at Texas City in coordination with Customer Service Representatives to balance customer requirements, inventory, and fleet availability.
- Lead end-of-month closing requirements with Texas City.
3. Truck Operations
- Support the Truck & Terminal Manager in logistics execution and coordination.
- Manage approval process for all trucking and iso-container priors.
- Review logistics provider invoices for accuracy.
- Manage truck carrier freight rates in SAP and AIMMS.
- Manage daily delivery schedules and update EDI exceptions as needed.
- Serve as back-up to the Truck & Terminal Manager as required.
4. Import/Export Account Coordination
- Manage marine imports from other regions for acetic anhydride and ethyl acetate (EtAc).
- Manage new customer set-up in INEOS systems.
- Manage and update SAP pricing files for all customers.
- Support marine imports of acetic acid.
- Support interaction with shipping brokers for vessel nominations, vetting/clearance acceptance, and prior cargo reviews.
- Monitor freight invoices and payments for accuracy, including demurrage claim reviews and reimbursement processing.
- Serve as back-up to the Inventory & Export Coordinator as needed.
5. Logistics Optimization and Procurement
- Support procurement of logistics services (truck, lab services, terminals/transloads) for the Acetyls Americas business.
- Support truck and terminal contract management.
- Support logistics network performance to ensure on-time delivery and customer satisfaction.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- 5 years of experience in logistics, supply chain, or operations (petrochemical industry preferred).
- Experience in technical and commercial functions (logistics, business management, purchasing).
- Experience with export/import activities and documentation.
Technical Skills
- SAP knowledge and experience.
- Strong relationship management skills.
- Solid understanding of logistics operations.
- Knowledge of multiple logistics modes (rail, road, marine).
- Strong competence with standard business software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
