The Position:
Logistics Manager -This position is responsible for ensuring the cost effective, on time shipment of all products via rail as well as all liquid products via truck while minimizing fixed and variable costs and maximizing customer satisfaction.
What you will do:
- Manage the operational logistics function including:
- rate and route management for road and rail modes
- shipment execution
- invoice payment
- accruals
- claims management
- Direct, develop and manage performance of Rail/Truck operations team.
- Sponsor a Safety Culture within logistics. Partner with Global Transportation / Distribution Safety to ensure INEOS Styrolution meets SHE (Safety Health Environmental) and regulatory requirements and complies with all regulatory agencies that apply to this function.
- Own and execute the strategic planning process for INEOS Styrolution’s hopper and tank car assets.
- Ensure the infrastructure required to support the operating businesses is developed and implemented (fleet size, storage yards, maintenance, inspection and cleaning programs, car/truck specifications, etc.)
- Logistics sourcing, for this function (Americas tank truck and all rail movements), including:
- contract management
- RFP and spot negotiation/selection
- performance monitoring
- system set up and maintenance
- Manage the rail asset acquisition and disposition processes including vendor negotiation and selection to meet business needs.
- Maintain operational support for INEOS Styrolution rail fleet including:
- tracing, expediting and repositioning
- inspection, cleaning, and maintenance
- transit time maintenance
- asset utilization analysis and reporting
- car records and registry maintenance
- regulatory compliance
What you will bring:
- Level of education & knowledge:
- Minimum: 10 - 15 years’ experience in chemical logistics/supply chain
- 5 years in a leadership position
- or
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, business, or related field
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience chemical logistics/supply chain with 3 in a managerial position
- Experience in general:
- 3-5 years of railroad and/or tank truck related experience or equivalent combination of education and logistics experience.
- 3 years’ experience in supervising or leading others required, that leadership experience in a manufacturing environment/culture is preferred.
- Technical skills:
- In-depth understanding of how customer demand, forecast and manufacturing dynamics translate to logistics needs.
- Working knowledge of DOT, TDG regulations regarding the movement of hazardous, time sensitive materials
- Strong analytical skills with ability to synthesize data into a clear, concise picture/message or call to action.
- Strong leadership, facilitation of positive change, communications, team building, and conflict resolution skills a must
- Preferred: training in OPEX, Lean Six-Sigma and/or root-cause & corrective-action development
- Competencies, Behavioral skills:
- Strong analytical, communication, problem solving, negotiating ability, strong interpersonal skills.
- SAP knowledge or experience required.
- TMS (transportation management system) experience preferred.
- Collaborative leadership skills to assist guiding team.
- Good organization skills, ability to prioritize and handle competing demands on a daily basis.
