ABOUT OUR OPPORTUNITY

A Distribution Correspondent is accountable for the safe co-ordination of our customer polymer delivery activities. Ensuring that they are supplied in accordance with confirmed sales orders.

The role is responsible for the safe execution of customer orders and leads the communication of amendments between hauliers and the Customer Service Centre to ensure that all relevant parties are aware of the status of deliveries.

Key accountabilities

  • Responsible for ensuring the correct haulier is selected according to the stock location, pack type and destination, to fulfil sales order requirements.
  • Manage post Brexit customs clearance requirements in accordance with legislative and in a way to optimise costs for the business.
  • Responsible for the management of additional charges through in-depth knowledge of the contractual Purchase Agreements and Service Level Agreements (SLA’s). 
  • Communicate daily with contacts in the Customer Service Centre and Account Managers throughout the business, regarding sales orders and additional requirements to ensure expectations are met or alternatives agreed.
  • Liaise closely with Planning and Sales to resolve supply issues and co-ordinate amendments.
  • Lead on the communication of instructions to hauliers through continuous monitoring of the present IT systems to ensure all orders have been progressed on time.
  • Liaise closely with planning to ensure product reclassification and releases are done without impacting on time delivery to customer.
  • Responsible for the recording of haulier On Time In Full into a database to enable an accurate measurement of a haulier’s performance.
  • To be part of the supply chain HSE rota, carrying out selected checks and controls. 
  • Monitor and control outstanding PGI’s for customer deliveries ensuring that all material has left on time and the correct invoicing dates are applied for customers.

ABOUT YOU

Required:

  • A good understanding of the basic principles of supply chain management and the role of distribution activities in the successful delivery of good customer service.
  • General understanding of the offsite/onsite assets and how these are operated to identify any potential delivery issues.
  • Enthusiastic, highly motivated and prepared to work flexibly during times of excess workload.
  • Good teamwork, interpersonal, networking and influencing skills.
  • Ability to work productively when under pressure and under tight time restraints, meet deadlines and multi-task.
  • Detailed approach to problem solving and decision making.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy of systems data entry/integrity.
  • Proficient in IT literacy, ideally experienced in SAP and MS office applications.
  • Logistics operational and commercial awareness and understanding.

Desired:

  • Educated to HNC level, equivalent vocational qualification or possessing relevant logistics experience.
