INEOS FPS

FPS is a 100% INEOS-owned integrated oil and gas liquid transportation and processing system with a nominal capacity in excess of one million barrels per day serving the central area of the North Sea.

Oil and gas liquids from over 50 offshore fields and St Fergus flow through pipelines into FPS. FPS processes the liquids at Kinneil and redelivers to the customer Forties Blend crude oil at Hound Point and either Raw Gas or fractionated Gas Products at Grangemouth.

Job Purpose

This is a unique role that will advise on the full spectrum of legal issues affecting the FPS business. The range of work includes providing legal advice and assistance with respect to new entrants and existing customers, business development, regulator interface (commercial and operations), disputes and investigations, managing a large-scale real estate portfolio, and advising operations in connection with procurement and projects. The job holder will work closely with the Business Manager, Business Director and other Board members.

Principle Accountabilities

Drafting and negotiation of commercial agreements with new entrants and existing customers, for transportation and processing of FPS pipeline liquids and for the sale and purchase of derived raw gas.
Advising on existing agreements for transportation and processing services (currently in excess of 200 contracts).
Advising on legal disputes through ADR and pre-action phases and on to court / arbitration hearings.
Assisting and advising commercial and operations teams on regulatory engagement and issues related to investigations into alleged non-compliance (includes HSE, OGA, SEPA, OFGEM).
Advising on, and monitoring, compliance issues in respect of sanctions risk.
Assisting the Business Director and Business Manager with special projects.
Assisting with the management of a large-scale real estate portfolio (heritable and leasehold).
Supporting the business with the development of transformation projects such as management systems and procurement guidance.
Managing external law firms providing advice to FPS.
Assisting and advising on the negotiation of procurement contracts as required (including on and offshore EPC) in connection with critical projects being executed on the FPS assets.
Providing relevant, focussed legal updates to commercial, operations and procurement teams.
Assisting with some company secretarial matters.
Managing oversight of material issues affecting the FPS business with the Business Manager, Group Legal and other INEOS Legal Managers.

SPECIAL FEATURES

The role will be based in Aberdeen with potential for the role to be based in Grangemouth with regular travel to Aberdeen.

The role will involve work in Aberdeen, Grangemouth or elsewhere as needed. The nature of some work may involve travel and intensive periods (including unsociable hours) to progress matters to closing.

Qualifications and technical experience

This role requires an individual with the knowledge, experience and confidence to interact with senior level leaders both within the FPS business and its customer/supplier base.
This role requires a good knowledge of commercial law and oil and gas in the UKCS.
Applicants should be educated to degree level and be a solicitor with at least 5 years’ experience working in a commercial law firm, or in-house with a large-sized business.
The role requires a self-starter who displays initiative and a ‘can-do’ approach; someone who can work independently as well as in a team.
The role requires a strong team player who can influence, support and instruct others without having direct line management responsibility.
