Compensation Grade

The Lead Rotating Equipment Technician uses their mechanical and rotating equipment expertise to collaborate with engineers, planners, and other field personnel to ensure the reliable and efficient operation of the mechanical equipment in the plant.

Accountability 1:

  • Carries out all tasks in a safe and efficient manner consistent with the INEOS 20 Safety Principles, Life Saving Rules and site policies/standards
  • Adheres to site safety, environmental and quality policies.
  • Be a safety leader through visible leadership in the field, including safety observation conversations.
  • Adhere to the SHE management system established for the site including participation in reporting, incident investigations, sharing of lessons learned, corrective action tracking and personnel training in support of incident management system.
  • Understands the general process and work execution hazards around the site to contribute to planning and coordinating work.
  • Participates in safety programs and committees for site-wide initiatives.
  • Responsible for ensuring proper housekeeping and meeting Asset Care priorities for assigned areas.
  • Responsible for always putting safety ahead of production or maintenance.
  • Responsible for stopping work if the situation warrants.
  • Verifies clear understanding of scope by third parties performing work, carefully reviews the type of work and potential safety or process reliability hazards.
  • Take appropriate action to initiate proper safety reviews (e.g., temporary job plan, confined space, hot work, etc.) when reviewing the work scope.

Accountability 2:

  • Responsible for ensuring all maintenance procedures in area of discipline are updated and reviewed on schedule, changes are communicated to all impacted crafts and training conducted where appropriate.
  • Monitor overall program compliance for predictive and preventive programs for the site and support craftsman as required to ensure completion of critical PM’s prior to due date. 
  • Supports maintenance of asset conditions according to INEOS Asset Care guidelines.
  • Executes specialty predictive maintenance tasks (i.e. vibration rounds, etc)
  • Responsible for coordinating with maintenance coordinators on larger, more complex jobs including review of work scope with Operations, Execution Forces, Planner/Schedulers to verify clear understanding and development of timelines as needed.
  • Troubleshoots failed/underperforming equipment to identify and/or eliminate root cause. 
  • Serve as elevated technical resource in maintenance repair techniques for the asset. 

Accountability 3:

  • Generates ideas for capital and expense projects that will drive improvement of site rotating equipment reliability
  • Provides technical support to engineering project teams that install, modify, or will affect mechanical equipment in the plant.
  • Follows the progress of the projects ensuring that the mechanical equipment is installed correctly with all parameters being properly set for the desired operation.
  • Participates as key team member in commissioning of all rotating equipment projects.
  • Works with project and asset teams to ensure new equipment is properly set up in asset management systems including SAP functional location structures, preventive maintenance programs, and spare parts.

Required profile:

Level of Education & Knowledge:

  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • At least 10 years of millwright experience in a plant
  • NCCER Millwright Certification required.
  • 5 years of vibration analysis experience
  • Preferred certification of completion at school (Mobius Institute, Vibration Academy, Vibration Analysis Train completion, etc.). Equivalent experience or certifications within prior company will also be considered.
  • Must possess or obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card prior to first day of employment.
  • Possess a current, valid license to operate a motor vehicle in the United States.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without visa sponsorship (U.S. citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident).

Experience & Technical Skills:

  • SAP experience in areas of Plant Maintenance preferred
  • Ability to utilize Microsoft Office Suite tools
  • Ability to demonstrate a strong working knowledge of the process and personal safety and health practices applicable in the petrochemical industry.  This includes energy isolation, lockout tagout, work permitting, confined space entry, working from heights, hazard communication, lifting and hoisting, incident reporting and investigation, and MOC.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical and rotating equipment standards as applied in petrochemical industry and general knowledge of various Codes (e.g. API, ASME, ANSI, NFPA, ISA).
  • Working knowledge of technical documentation associated with equipment
  • Demonstrated technical capability to assess vendor quotes against repair objectives,
  • Demonstrated capabilities to assess work sequencing, optimize work planning, scheduling, and cost is a plus.
  • Knowledge and experience in executing preventive maintenance plans.
  • Ability to read P&IDs.
