The Laboratory Technician whose primary role is analysis of and report on product and process streams. Additionally, technician performs tasks associated with efficient, optimal and safe laboratory performance. The position provides technical support for operations, logistics, sales, and marketing, as well as support of other Business Unit improvement efforts.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
    Technician job activities are executed in a safe and efficient manner consistent with the INEOS 20 Principles and the Culture of Prevention.
    Embraces Life Saving Rules in all aspects of the job.
    Completes basic prescribed tasks of lab operation in a safe and timely manner. Trains and qualifies for all jobs within operating lab areas. Trains individually as workload permits during normal work schedule and in classes as scheduled.
    Operates in compliance with laboratory procedures, company/plant policies, regulatory and legal requirements, and sound scientific ethics.
    Complies with oral and written instructions from supervisor(s).
    Works directly with other lab technicians, I&E technicians, operational technicians, shipping technicians and chemists to mutually solve analytical and operational problems.
    Performs a variety of tests on plant products at various stages of synthesis. This includes sampling, testing, communicating results, preparing solutions and reagents, and peer training. 
    Performs maintenance and calibration of laboratory instrumentation and environment to maintain and ensure accurate results.
    Receives, prepares, and coordinates shipping of lab samples. 
    Contributes and communicates laboratory supply inventory, receiving and storage.
    Qualitative analyses such as, but not limited to appearance/visual observations and pass/fail evaluation.
    Quantitative analyses such as, but not limited to weight and volume measurements; instrumentational techniques (GC, HPLC, UV, pH, ect.); manual and instrumental titrations.
    Evaluation and record-keeping such as but not limited to manual calculations, LIMS, trending, analytical verification, and laboratory notebook maintenance.
    Promptly communicates abnormal conditions to person in charge.
    Maintains clean and orderly area and reports all safety hazards immediately to the supervisor.
    Dispose of laboratory waste streams in accordance with laboratory procedures and plant/lab safety regulations
    Works a rotating 12-hour shift under supervision of the Laboratory Supervisor, Shift Manager, or person in charge. Hours include weekends, holidays, and overtime assignments as necessitated by Lab Operations. 
    Substitutes occasionally for shift lab technician serving rotational stand-by duty for holidays, weekends and other off duty hours.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
    Minimal GED or High School diploma required. 
    A minimum of one year of experience in a chemical laboratory is required.
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES
    Strong knowledge in Microsoft office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, ect.) and LIMS desired.
    Strong written and oral communication skills required.
    Strong computational and analytical ability preferred.
    Knowledge of the scientific method and use in practical conditions is desired.
    Knowledge of the following is desired: Liquid and Gas Chromatography, UV spectrophotometer, pH, Turbidity and Conductivity Meters, Metrohm Auto-Titrators, Hach Meters and methods,  Atomic Absorption, Manual wet chemistry techniques, O2 Bomb Analyzers,
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
    Don Self Containing Breathing Apparatus, (SCBA) to collect samples.
    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and perform tasks requiring repetitive use of hands.
    The employee must occasionally walk, stand and travel by car, or other means.
    Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
    Employee must be able to physically evacuate himself from the site without assistance in a safe manner without assistance.
    Climbing; ascending or descending ladders, stairs, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms.
    This job is performed mainly in a temperature-controlled laboratory environment. As required, the incumbent will be expected to perform some work outside under hot or cold conditions.
