ABOUT OUR OPPORTUNITY
We currently have two temporary vacancies for Laboratory Shift Technicians at our Grangemouth laboratory. The post holder will provide a depth of knowledge and understanding in a particular field to enhance the technical and analytical laboratory service to the site and associated businesses. The post holder will identify improvements and implement solutions to laboratory working practices and procedures, in combination with the ability to plan and prioritise daily workload.
Key accountabilities
- Organise and prioritise analyses to provide prompt and accurate testing of routine and non-routine samples to the required standards of quality, cost and safety.
- Report results through LIMS, correlate reports and ability to interpret data.
- Contribute to the review of selected methods/operating instructions, updating as required.
- Maintain equipment and performance-monitoring checks, ensuring accurate records are documented for audit purposes. Monitor and investigate any anomalies.
- Ensure all quality and HSE records are kept meeting laboratory services needs and those of company initiatives and statutory responsibilities e.g. CoQ, UKETS & SEPA etc.
- Carry out unplanned and preventative maintenance on Lab and at-line equipment.
- Aware of cost implications and minimises waste.
- Contribute effectively to the team, meeting both team and personal objectives as set.
ABOUT YOU
Required:
- Be educated to HNC/Degree level in a Chemistry related discipline with previous experience in a similar role.
- Have working knowledge of a wide range of analytical techniques.
- Knowledge and experience using various IT packages to assist with reporting of analytical data.
- Works wells within a team environment whilst being able to work individually.
- Effective decision making skills.

Formal Interview
Successful applicants will then be invited to interview which will consist of behavioural and technical questions. For some roles the recruitment process may also include technical testing, behaviour questionnaires and/ or a delivering a presentation.
Provisional Offer
If you are selected as the preferred candidate you will receive a provisional offer which will be subject to a medical assessment and reference checks. Some roles may also require a criminality check.
