Laboratory Technician Apprenticeship

We’re looking for a Technician Apprenticeship to join the INEOS Acetyls team. We need highly motivated individuals who want to be part of our growing business.
INEOS Acetyls is a global chemicals business producing acetic acid and a range of derivatives across Europe, Asia and America. We’re part of INEOS - one of the largest petrochemical companies in the world, employing around 26,000 people across 194 sites in 29 countries.
You will be based at the Hull site, which is the largest producer of acetic acid, acetic anhydride and ethyl acetate in Europe. The products we produce are essential building blocks used in almost every industry, including renewable power, automotive, pharmaceuticals, coatings and textiles.
Hull is also home to the business's global Technology Development and Support Team and is based on the 370-acre Saltend Chemicals Park - a cluster of world-class chemicals and renewable energy businesses at the heart of the UK's energy estuary.

The opportunity
You will work in a team of highly skilled technicians carrying out quality testing on a wide range of feedstocks and products to ensure they are of the correct purity. Your daily duties will include:

Learning a wide range of analytical techniques using both bench chemistry procedures as well as using state of the art instruments

Safely handling a wide range of chemicals, carefully following standard methods to support the manufacturing plants

Assisting in the development of new scientific methods in aid of research goals
You will work on Shift rota pattern with six days on and three days off. Three mornings, three afternoons, three off. Day shifts 07:30 - 14:30 and 14:30 - 22:30. 3 weeks holiday in the summer, 1 week holiday in Spring & 1 week holiday in Autumn.
What training will I receive
The successful candidate will learn on the job by working with experienced technical staff. Through the training provider, CSR Scientific Training, you will undertake a Level 3 Laboratory Technician Apprenticeship which will include:

Fully recognised apprenticeship qualification - Level 3 Laboratory Technician

On-the-job competency training

Theoretical knowledge - BTEC Level 3 Applied Science

The majority of your learning will be completed online once a week with some face-to-face practical sessions/exams in Sutton Coldfield
