Purpose of the Job:
This position is primarily supporting the analytical requirements of all block assets, although work permitting, may assist other quality staff members or lab operators in other tasks. The priority is to ensure all finished products, raw materials, and wastes meet all specifications and to perform assigned L9 responsibilities to ensure good housekeeping and identification of equipment concerns, which is accomplished by: performing analytical measurements, reviewing results generated by operations, keeping laboratory stocked, good housekeeping performed, and reagents managed to ensure expired chemicals are removed and unavailable for use, and notifying the lab supervisor when additional chemicals and supplies are needed.

- Routinely collect, report, and address SHE near misses
- Ensure all required regulatory and job specific training is completed in a timely manner
- Maintain laboratory environment by ensuring proper housekeeping in lab area including retain storage building

- On-call rotation with support from lab staff
- Second level review of lots
- Module 8 training (excluding nitrite/nitrate)
- Module 9 training (maintenance forms, and titration sections, volumetric flasks, solutions book entry, instrument control practical demonstration, weekly carbonyl checks)
- Module 10 training (DOW LIMS backup, Excel calculators, logging samples into LIMS, intro to labware, intro to efficient lotting process, lab schedule, peg positive ID, low Aldehydes procedures, DEG from Glycol 2)
- Module 11 training (marine procedures for EOA and GE, lab management for rerun analysis requests)
- Complete practical demonstration of efficient lotting
Accountability: Grade 5.05: Laboratory Technician I
Must be qualified on all prior items
The following competencies must be demonstrated to progress to Lab Technician II (6 months expected completion time)
- Able to update load edit and peg edit sheets as required
- retain management (analyzing and logging samples)
- L9 program compliance
- OOS & OOC compliance
- On-call compliance
- Comply with new hire shadow training needs
- Handling of raw material analysis and login
- Log in and store lab chemicals and supplies
- GE Off-Series testing and requirements
- Module 12 forklift training
- Management of Dak Paks

- Generate MOC for procedure review
- Assist operations with lab testing when required
- Module 10 (Carbitol Hypure and PMEG metals login)
- Metals analysis entry into Labware for ICP-MS
Accountability: Grade 5.10: Laboratory Technician II
Must demonstrate proficiency as a Laboratory Technician I for a minimum of 6 months and be qualified on all prior items
The following competencies must be demonstrated to progress to Lab Technician III (12 months expected completion time)
- Module 10 (COA generation for Contanda samples)
- Lemont sample analysis (exception: ICP-MS)
- Nitrite/Nitrate
- Module 9 (GC maintenance, bomem check, FTIR system check)
- Sample shipment prep to third party lab for metals testing
- Module 11 (Generate COA’s out of SAP and via manual templates, managing customer pre-shipment samples)
Accountability: Grade 5.15: Laboratory Technician III
Must demonstrate proficiency as a Laboratory Technician II for a minimum of 6 months and be qualified on all prior items
The following competencies must be demonstrated to progress to Lab Technician IV (12 months expected completion time)
- Comply with new hire sign off training needs
- Module 9 (calibration check for Hunterlab)
- ICP-MS sample prep and analysis
- ICP-MS torch maintenance
- Customer sample request fulfillment
- Tech service request fulfillment
- Hydroxyl testing
Accountability: Grade 6.0: Laboratory Technician IV
Must demonstrate proficiency as a Laboratory Technician III for a minimum of 1 year and be qualified on all prior items

- Leads special lab projects and reports findings back to management

Must demonstrate proficiency as a Laboratory Technician IV for a minimum of 1 year and be qualified on all prior items
