We’re looking for a Lab Operations Chemical Engineer to join the INEOS Acetyls team. We need highly motivated individuals who want to be part of our growing business.

You will be based at the Hull site, which is the largest producer of acetic acid, acetic anhydride, and ethyl acetate in Europe. The products we produce are essential building blocks used in almost every industry, including renewable power, automotive, pharmaceuticals, coatings, and textiles.
Hull is also home to the business's global Technology Development and Support Team and is based on the 370-acre Saltend Chemicals Park - a cluster of world-class chemicals and renewable energy businesses at the heart of the UK's energy estuary.

The opportunity
The purpose of this role is to act as the chemical engineer for the design and modification of analytical and research scale equipment across the technology department. The role will also contribute significantly to the operation and the design/interpretation of experiments. Key accountabilities
As Chemical Engineer you will contribute to the delivery of safe, compliant and reliable experimental operations and will support the SHE performance goals of the business.
You will work closely with research and process development chemists to generate, evaluate and demonstrate new process technology options. As part of an integrated engineering team you will design, cost and support the build and commission research scale equipment from lab scale to pilot plant scale. You will lead any modifications to the equipment within the team ensuring all management of change standards are met, working with the Lead Process Engineer to ensure that all engineering standards are also met.
You will work with the wider Acetyls team, in particular the main plant design team, to bring the technology to commercialisation and contribute to management of change as engineering signatory.
About you
To be successful in this role you will need significant experience of Management of Change and good experience within all aspects of Chemical Engineering design. The ability to support the design of novel experimental units, working with other scientists and engineers is essential, along with proven skills in process engineering, modelling and simulation.
Knowledge and experience of demonstration plant scale process operations and engineering designs is key along with demonstrated ability to lead your own projects, develop innovative solutions and deliver impactful technical results
Knowledge of process simulation and modelling would be an advantage.
