We are looking for a Junior Database Developer to join our data team. Your primary responsibility will be to manage and maintain the existing databases, implement necessary updates, and optimize their performance. You will be actively involved in supporting the data team and collaborating with other departments to provide access to accurate and timely data. Additionally, you will gain hands-on experience in a dynamic and growing data-driven environment.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
You will work closely with our data engineers, data scientists and data analysts to support the maintenance and expansion of our Trading database.
- Manage and administer our existing databases, ensuring data integrity and availability.
- Collaborate effectively with the data team and cross-functional departments to achieve data-related objectives.
- Actively participate in team discussions, sharing ideas, and contributing to continuous improvement.
- Write, optimise, and execute SQL queries to extract, update, and manipulate data as required.
- Collaborate with the data team to develop and modify SQL scripts to meet specific data needs.
- Respond to data-related queries and support data requests from various departments.
- Assist in creating user-friendly interfaces to facilitate data access for non-technical stakeholders.
- Develop ETL pipelines to extract, transform, and load data from various sources into the database.
- Ensure data integrity, quality, and consistency throughout the ETL process.
- Familiarity with data pre-processing and data transformation techniques.
Skills & Knowledge Required
Technical Skills
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, or related fields with 0-2 years of experience.
- Proficiency in SQL with a strong understanding of relational databases.
- Knowledge of database management systems (DBMS) such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or SQL Server is a plus.
- Experience with database management and data processing tools.
- Proficient programming skills in languages such as Python or other.
