BUSINESS CONTEXT:

INEOS Oxide is one of the most diverse, dynamic, and successful businesses within INEOS.  We operate 4 manufacturing sites in Europe and North America (Antwerp BE, Köln DE, Lavera FR, Plaquemine US) and are in the process of acquiring a new one in Bayport (TX), US.  We produce a broad range of 200+ products which spread across five key value chains (Ethylene Oxide, Propylene Oxide, Oxoalcohols, Acetic Acid, and ENB), and on many of our products we are the European market leader.  Our total manufacturing capacity is above 3 million tonnes per anum generating an annual EBITDA of ~300 M€.  INEOS Oxide is an energetic business which is growing actively on a global level, with projects to extend our production base to new sites in North America and Asia in addition to continued investment on our existing platforms.  We are committed to resourcing the Information Technology team accordingly to deliver on this ambitious growth agenda.

Purpose of the Job:

Provides direct secure support in the development and maintenance of the company’s IT and OT (DCS and SIS) infrastructure, including LAN, WAN and communication systems.  The role has a high degree of impact on the ability for the business to operate safely and efficiently. 

Environmental Context

Unavailability of IT and OT assets can have direct, negative impact on business performance.  The role has primary responsibility for supporting and improving network and computer components of all IT and OT systems and is necessary to ensure the production units can be operated in a safe and reliable way, that employees can remain productive and business processes that rely on technology continue to function.  Problem solving done by the individual requires determining “how to solve” and interrogatively selecting/tuning solution combinations.

The employee contributes to improvements in existing standards and procedures thus expanding work boundaries.  This employee is capable of creating a scope of work to address defined problems.  The individual is expected to breakdown complex issues into smaller quantifiable parts and implement established procedures, and possibly develop new procedures to accomplish goals.

The individual focuses primarily on completions of specific tasks.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Accountability 1

Most important activity

  • This position – and all positions – with the INEOS Oxide US organization requires that the incumbent commit to learning, following, and practicing INEOS 20 Principles of Process & Behavioural Safety as applicable to the position.  These Principles are posted throughout each Oxide facility and each employee must also commit to following INEOS’ Life-Saving rules on a daily basis.  These are also posted within each Oxide facility.

Most important activities

  • Effective performance in this role is critical to the efficient and safe operation of the business.  To ensure business processes operate as designed, the individual must provide support for the technical components of our internal computing environment for IT as well as OT systems.  This includes networks, servers, communication systems, protocols, hardware, operating systems, firewalls, etc.
  • Asist the global INEOS Oxide teams to develop strategic plans for technical environment.

  • The post holder demonstrates a desire to identify and address root causes.
  • The employee influences the establishment of new procedures within their functions to optimize performance.
  • Supports developing and sharing of best practices within the local organization.
  • The individual determines priorities and may deviate from established procedures as long as objectives are met.  No direct monitoring of the job.

Accountability 4:

Most important activities

For IT as well as Process Control: 

  • Support for critical requirements including:
    • Network Security, Network Administration, Active Directory, System Patching, Back-Up
  • Management of LAN and WAN, Servers, Cyber Security.
  • Monitoring of system health and addressing any issues.
  • Support for VMWare.
  • Assistance for life cycling computer systems.
  • Project Management activities with a focus on technical projects.
  • Maintenance of system architecture drawings, assets databases and network documentation.
  • Liaison between site IT/OT and other site departments as well as business IT and OT teams.

Accountability 5:

Most important activities

  • Communication systems management
  • Cisco, Call Manager, Unity Server experience.
  • Radio communication.
  • Camera management.
  • Provides mentoring/training/backup to Service Desk Technician.
  • Supervises work being done by 3rd party technology vendors.

Skills/Competencies

Level of Education & Experience in general

  • Bachelor’s of Science degree in a computer-related field, or 10 years specific experience.  Certification in one or more networking or back-office technologies.

Technical Skills

  • Understanding highly complex technical aspects of role and performs work without supervision.
  • Advanced technical skills in most of the following areas:
    • Digital security technology
    • Design and implementation of LANs or WANs
    • TCP/IP Networking / DNS / DHCP
    • Server management
    • Active Directory / Group Policies
    • Backup systems
    • Deployment of service packs, hot fixes, system updates, etc.
    • Disaster Recovery Planning and Implementation
    • Telecommunication systems
    • Various scripting
  • Experience with a variety of vendor products, like Honeywell, Aspen, VMWare and Cisco.
  • Able to diagnose and solve technical or process issues, and evaluate impact on business.

ADA Physical requirements, visual acuity requirements and environmental conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and perform tasks requiring repetitive use of hands.  The employee must occasionally walk, stand, and travel by car, airplane or other means.   Exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

Employee must have the ability to see written documents, computer screens, and to adjust focus.

Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction.   Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make discriminations in sound.

Work Environment:  This job is performed mainly in a temperature-controlled office environment.
