ABOUT OUR OPPORTUNITY

The Database System Administrator (DBA) is offered as a permanent position and combines technical understanding and ability to provide database administration, support & development across the Oracle and MS SQL database estate. You will be part of an applications support team, reporting into the Applications Team Leader.

You will be responsible for ensuring availability, performance, integrity and security of the databases are maintained in line with business requirements.  You will proactively plan and perform software patching and upgrading in line with best practice.

You will create and maintain database standards and policies to align with INEOS IT Group standards.

As a key member of the apps support team assist in troubleshooting of any application issues and unplanned outages demonstrate a willingness to learn new skills to support applications

There is no line management responsibility but you will engage with the wider IT Team key business stakeholders & 3rd party suppliers.

The post holder must be able to travel to Grangemouth.

The role is part of the IT Apps team on-call rota.

Key accountabilities

  • Undertake technical support and development tasks.
  • Liaise with stakeholders to define business requirements.
  • Support and implement IT Strategy.
  • Implement continuous service improvements.
  • Work closely with the project manager to complete project activity tasks.
  • Maintain a Cybersecurity standard compliant database estate.

ABOUT YOU

You should:

  • Be skilled in Oracle Database Administration using 10g onwards.
  • Be skilled in SQL Server Administration using SQLSERVER 2008 onwards.
  • Be skilled in Oracle RMAN configuration and management.
  • Have extensive knowledge of backup and recovery operations.
  • Be able to monitor the DBMS, fault find, and tune for optimum performance.
  • Be experienced in SQL, PL/SQL and T-SQL development and performance tuning.
  • Be experienced in working with middleware IIS, Websphere and Weblogic.
  • Demonstrate experience of deployment and environment management.
  • Have scripting and development experience.
  • Have strong analytic and problem solving skills.
  • Show understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Demonstrate experience of working with database design or data architecture principles.
