Internal Job Title: Interim Shift Maintenance Engineer

Based:                    Newton Aycliffe, County Durham

  • Scale up business with huge investment made in a brand-new state of the art manufacturing facility for 2022 and a number of exciting product launches into 2023/24 and beyond.

The Role:                The Shift Maintenance Engineer works as part of the site Engineering team ensuring asset management, maintenance, and inspections are managed and delivered in accordance with maintenance plans to optimise plant availability for manufacturing.

Accountabilities

Reporting to the Site Manufacturing Team Lead, key responsibilities will be to:

  • Ensure all machinery and equipment is safe to use and that all documentation is completed to the required standard.
  • Ensure that safe systems of work are followed and risk assessments are completed as required.
  • Management of contractors as required.
  • Manage preventative and predictive maintenance routines on a wide range of filling and packaging machinery.
  • Writing of SOP’s / Work Instructions as required.
  • Maintain Mechanical, Electrical and Site services equipment
  • Work with Engineering colleagues and members of the Manufacturing team to fully understand breakdown issues.
  • Support the losses meetings to identify least reliable equipment and carry out corrective actions and improvements.
  • Support projects and equipment design changes to improve reliability.
  • Maintain working knowledge of all plant equipment and changes in technology

Knowledge & Qualifications

  • Hold either a degree / HNC / NVQ in a relevant discipline
  • Have knowledge of theory and practice of managing equipment reliability systems and processes in a production/manufacturing facility e.g. asset care.
  • Be skilled in troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
  • Be self-motivated, with the ability to identify and pursue plant reliability issues to a satisfactory resolution.
  • Understanding and application of SHE Principles
