The Position: Instrumentation & Electrical Technician  -  The candidate will work in a manufacturing environment performing maintenance, calibration and troubleshooting of field instrumentation devices for process equipment including flow, pressure, temperature, level, medium voltage and low voltage distribution and controls.  This position is Monday-Friday, 8-hour days.

What you will do: 

  • Maintain strict adherence to environmental, health, and safety regulations, rules, and procedures. Follow all safety and process safety protocols and procedures. Actively participate to maintain and improve safety performance.
  • Maintenance, calibration and troubleshooting of field instrumentation devices for process equipment including flow, pressure, temperature, level, MV and LV distribution and controls.
  • Installation, calibration, inspection, troubleshooting and repair of instruments and electrical equipment, in accordance with NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, ISA and Company Standards.
  • Identify, interpret and effectively use drawings and documentation related to electrical and process controls including electrical one-line diagrams, wiring schematics, control schematics, P&ID’s, cause and effect diagrams, instrument loop diagrams, etc.
  • Interpret and troubleshoot PLC and DCS logic including ladder logic and function block.
  • Work safely on AC distribution systems below 480 volts.
  • Work safely on DC loop systems.
  • Troubleshoot, repair motor control circuits and equipment including VFD’s, motors and motor control circuits
  • Operate powered moving equipment, e.g. fork truck, scissor lift, JLG.
  • VFD programming.
  • Control valve repair.
  • Industrial refrigeration equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Support site profitability, regulatory compliance, and product quality through executing equipment preventive and corrective maintenance in accordance with procedures and best practices seeking maintenance excellence. Support asset improvement initiatives.
  • Troubleshoot and determine causes of asset poor performance, failure, and wear. Propose and lead changes to improve reliability and optimize cost.
  • Promote continual improvement of safety and asset reliability through equipment, job plan, and procedure revisions. Work to improve maintenance processes and methods to reduce potential mistakes and defects. Collaborate with operations to resolve asset issues.
  • Maintain legible and accurate records of preventive maintenance tasks, failure causes, man-hours worked, and materials used in SAP and/or hard copy as assigned or required.
  • Preserve high standards of housekeeping and organization
  • Expected to equally participate in the emergency call-out process.

What you will bring: 

  • High School Diploma
  • 2-5 years of related industrial instrument and electrical experience
  • Successful completion of all mandatory safety and environmental orientation training.
  • Teamwork Skills

Physical demands:

  • Continuous standing over 7 hours
  • Frequent walking, alternate sitting/standing for over 4 hours, lifting up to 10lbs, pushing/pulling while seated/standing, crouching, climbing, twisting/turning, reaching above shoulder level, simple/firm grasping, fine manipulation, exposure to temperature extremes and high noise level.
  • Occasional sitting and viewing CRT monitor for over 1 hour, lifting/carrying up to 50lbs, kneeling, crawling, balancing, operating machinery, exposure to dust/gas fumes, chemicals/solvents, allergic agents, enclosed spaces, wet conditions, reduced light levels and electrical sources.
  • Climbing stairs to the second and third levels of process structures on a regular basis (estimated 6-7 times per day). Occasional use of ladders and mechanical man-lifts.
  • Wearing safety equipment, including a negative pressure respirator and a full body harness for fall protection.
  • Pushing or pulling a 150 lb. rolling tool cart or using a two-wheel dolly to move nominal 100 lb. pieces of equipment.

The Location: This opportunity is located in Channahon, Illinois, United States, only one hour from Chicago, Illinois.
