The purpose of the Inspection Technician I is to perform scheduled inspections on process equipment according to industry codes and practices and provide inspection data to the lead inspectors for review.

Accountabilities of the job: 

Accountability 1: Meet all SHE objectives and comply with all governmental laws and policies for a manufacturing site.

Most important activities:

  • Visibly supports and promotes the INEOS 20 Principles and the Culture of Prevention.
  • All activities performed in accordance with established company, local, state, federal, and health safety, and environmental regulations and procedures.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are planned and executed in compliance with site environmental compliance requirements.
  • Safety improvements on all pre-existing processes.
  • Is aware of and responds to emergency protocols during shutdowns and startups.

Accountability 2: Maintaining mechanical integrity of assets through inspection

Most important activities:

  • Performing external NDE required by the preventative maintenance inspection plan for equipment on site
  • Completing NDT on repairs of fixed equipment at the site
  • Collection of UT data on piping circuits and vessels
  • Interface and support nested maintenance contractor for piping and pressure vessel repairs with PT, MT, and VT
  • Reviewing film from RT of completed weld repairs
  • Supporting the work of external NDT contractors including Eddy Current, AUT, PAUT, and Radiography Testing
  • Support site turnaround by performing NDT on repairs and supporting API inspections
  • Positive Material Identification of alloy parts and materials delivered to the site
  • Adherence to API, ASME, ANSI, and industry practices.
  • Working knowledge of industry standards and emerging trends.
  • Maintain asset condition per INEOS Asset Care guidelines.

Required profile:

Level of Education & Knowledge:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the chemical industry with background of NDE inspection of Vessels, Tanks, and piping
  • ANST Level II certifications in VT, PT, UT, MT, and RT
  • Knowledge of applicable RAGAGEPs including API, ASME, and ASTM codes and practices
  • PMI (Positive Material Identification) certification

Experience & Technical Skills:

  • Knowledge of applicable RAGAGEPs including API, ASME, and ASTM codes and practices
  • Working knowledge cathodic protection preactices and standards
  • Proficient at updating inspection software with data
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Competent with microsoft excel and word

Competencies & Behavioral Skills

  • Attention to detail, problem solving skills, and the ability to use various inspection tools and equipment.
  • Thorough understanding of quality control processes.  
  • Ability to operate in an environment with strict timelines, frequent priority changes in a matrixed, project-based organization.
