The Jemeppe-sur-Sambre production site is looking for an Inspection Engineer. The aim is to collaborate to implement high-level inspection standards within the framework of INEOS worldwide deployment.

As an Inspection Engineer, the Job holder will work in the Inspection department which consists of a Manager, two engineers, two technicians and three Inspectors.

The Inspection Engineer plans and conducts mechanical integrity inspections of piping, vessels, tanks and mechanical equipment to ensure full compliance with legal requirements, site inspection standards, and business goals for asset integrity, costs, and productivity. The Inspection Engineer must also be able to explain the differences between "regulatory requirements, "corporate requirements," and "best practices" as they apply to the fixed equipment in their area to allow the Asset Managers to make appropriate decisions with the equipment.

This involves reporting and informing the assigned asset areas of any inspection results within a very short timeframe in order to solve current problems and implement changes to prevent future events.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities

  • On the basis of the equipment list, deploy AIMS (Assessment & Inspection Management System)/RBI (Risk Based Inspection) for each asset.
  • Ensure compliance for all Equipment with regulatory due dates.
  • Organize inspection planning & ensure any inspections are properly prepared and performed per the applicable codes, standards, and/or INEOS Inovyn Inspection Program documents.
  • Manage the planning of external resources & approve Non Destructive Testing examination results provided by external company for equipment in assigned area.
  • Validate & review inspection plans based on inspection results, on group information or in case of code/legal changes.
  • Ensure repairs of equipment meet applicable industry codes & standards, site specific engineering specifications & standards, or recognized and generally accepted good engineering practices.
  • Perform equipment failure inspections, participate in root cause analysis & provide code/non-code repair recommendations for the area assigned.
  • Provide support and expertise ensuring that key skills are identified and shared within the team.
  • Create/update/be accountable for the Inspection management system.
  • Know and track changes of codes/legal reference document (PED (Pressure Equipment Directive), API (American Petroleum Institute), Belgian regulation, etc.).
  • Complete, update and monitor relevant inspections’ KPI

Key skills and knowledge required : 

  • Industrial Engineer
  • Minimum 5 years in an industrial inspection function (maintenance, technical office, construction)
  • Fluent in French and English
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and projects
  • Good knowledge of SAP/ERP system is a plus
  • Knowledge of codes & standards such as API570, 510, 653, etc.
  • Good working knowledge of NDT techniques
  • Basic knowledge of fabrication, maintenance and operation process piping, pressure vessels, tanks, and pressure relief systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint)
  • Must have a strong and demonstrated commitment to safety
  • Leadership competences
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure
