background

FPS is a 100% INEOS-owned integrated oil and gas liquid transportation and processing system with a nominal capacity in excess of one million barrels per day serving the central area of the North Sea.

Oil and gas liquids from over 50 offshore fields and St Fergus flow through pipelines into FPS. FPS transports crude oil and gas liquids from offshore and onshore entry points, processes the liquids at Kinneil and redelivers to the customer Forties Blend crude oil at Hound Point and either Raw Gas or fractionated Gas Products at Grangemouth

job purpose

Plan and deliver mechanical pipework, vessel, civil and structural inspections (within limits of letter of authority) to achieve full compliance with legal requirements, inspection standards and business goals for asset integrity, costs and productivity.

Delivery of safe, reliable and efficient planning and execution of integrity related activity which ensures integrity of the facilities and compliance with industry regulation and INEOS standards

principle accountabilities

  • Develop and maintain proactive inspection plans for defined area of responsibility incorporating focus on safety, manpower planning and budgetary control.
  • Ensure that Written Schemes of Examination are prepared and certified in accordance with PSSR 2000 and Examination section of the quality manual.
  • Ensure that safe and competent examination of equipment is carried out to the requirements of the WSE.
  • Ensure the timely issue of a suitably approved report to the owner or user recording the result of the examination, specifying any necessary remedial action / recommendations and defining the maximum period of time allowed before the next examination.
  • Ensure that the owner or user is notified of any changes necessary to the WSE and / or safe operating limits that may become apparent as a result of the examination.
  • Make judgements and decisions relating to equipment design, manufacture and condition acceptability to ensure its fitness for service. This includes the provision of technical advice and information to site leadership.
  • Support fitness for service assessment of INEOS FPS pressure systems equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with UK Law and the INEOS FPS inspection procedures and practices, particularly the Pressure Systems Safety Regulations (PSSR) 2000
  • Adhere to and promote INEOS 20 Principles and 7 Life saving rules to colleagues and external vendors.
  • Maintain a high standard of personal safety whilst at work, adhering to all required rules and procedures

special features

  • INEOS FPS consists of a number of top tier COMAH sites and an offshore platform, contained within which is a large range of process technologies and chemical hazards. The post holder is required to have a wide general knowledge and understanding of the integrity related aspects of these processes.
  • Post holder will be required to become proficient in the functionality and application of the Credo Inspection System.
  • The Inspection & Integrity team holds UKAS accreditation for its in-service inspection activities, therefore this post is required to be free of commercial, financial and other pressures which may affect the judgement of the post holder
  • Utilise in-depth knowledge to aid in the selection of the most appropriate Non-Destructive Testing techniques on a case-by-case basis, as well as recognise opportunities for the implementation of new or emerging specialist NDT technologies.
  • Participate in the Risk Based Assessment programme for pressure systems equipment, ensuring compliant transition from existing grade based inspections, where relevant.
  • Lead and manage the inspection resources applied to defined area of responsibility. This responsibility includes planning and managing the inspection input to Turnaround and Project activities.

qualifications and technical experience

  • Minimum Qualifications: Category 2 inspection engineer as defined in UKAS RG2.
  • Minimum Experience: Suitable engineering experience in inspection of pipelines, pipework, vessels and fabrication, design, commissioning and plant operations on a high hazard refining or petrochemical manufacturing site.
  • Job-Specific Skills: demonstrated leadership and problem solving skills and capability to manage a small team of inspection specialists.
  • Detailed knowledge of relevant industry codes and standards
  • Sufficient in-depth knowledge of routine non-destructive inspection techniques and an appreciation of specialist NDT techniques and detailed understanding of materials and corrosion mechanisms relevant to the role.
