The Role

The primary role of the I&E Technician is performing repair, installation, trouble shooting, calibration and some field design of electrical, electronic and pneumatic equipment.  The technician utilizes a variety of test and analyzing equipment to calibrate, evaluate performance, and adjust controls for optimum plant performance. 

What you will do:

  • This position – and all positions - within the INEOS Styrolution organization requires that the incumbent commit to learning, following and practicing INEOS' Life Saving Rules, as well as the 20 Principles of Process and Behavioural Safety as applicable to the position. These are posted within each INEOS Styrolution facility.  The incumbent:
    • Ensures all job activities are executed in a safe and efficient manner consistent with the INEOS 20 Principles and the Culture of Prevention.
    • Attends scheduled safety meetings and regulatory training.
    • Supports integrity management by completing assigned Preventative Maintenance and ensures proper follow through on reliability concerns.
    • Participates as needed for incident investigations, Management of Change, Process Hazard Analysis/LOPA.
    • Participates in audits and interviews including 20 Principals, OSHA, ISO, etc.
  • Perform repair, installation, troubleshooting, calibration, and some field design on electrical and instrumentation systems (120/480V).
  • Review work orders, enter history/delay codes in SAP, and follow established maintenance procedures and standards.
  • Document modifications, provide input for checkout/maintenance procedures, and assist with factory acceptance/functional testing.
  • Read electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, and ladder logic to support troubleshooting and system understanding.
  • Use calibration software, computer-aided calibrators, and attend training to stay current with equipment and techniques.
  • Communicate abnormal conditions, maintain a safe/clean work area, and provide technical support to contract personnel.

What you will bring:

  • High School graduate or GED required.
  • Associates degree in an Instrument or Electrical discipline preferred.
  • At least 3 years of chemical/petrochemical experience as a Maintenance I&E Technician, 5+ years preferred.
  • NCCER certification in Instrument Technician V3 is preferred.
  • NCCER certification in Industrial Electrician V3 is preferred.
  • Ability to work overtime, including being available for call out on holidays and weekends as is necessary for the continued operations of the plant per the call out list.

Additional Skills & Knowledge:

  • Proficient in Excel, Word, and common computing software.
  • Strong written/oral communication, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Skilled in using Volt Ohm Meters and working with pressure, temperature, and level instruments.
  • Knowledgeable in Coriolis meters, valves, transmitters, motors, lighting, and controls.
  • Experienced with loop drawings, electrical ladder diagrams, PLC logic, and P&ID’s.
  • Familiar with 120/480 electrical systems and related equipment.

Physical Requirements:

The successful candidate must be willing and able to:

  • Safely work with hazardous/flammable chemicals and heavy equipment.
  • Perform outdoor work year-round in varying weather conditions.
  • Stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift frequently; lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Work in confined spaces and at heights above 25 ft, including ladders up to 200 ft.
  • Wear respirators or fresh-air masks as required.
  • Use a wide range of hand tools for maintenance and repair tasks.

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge and skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. At INEOS Styrolution, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are carefully made based on the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
