The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge and skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. At INEOS Styrolution, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are carefully made based on the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
THE POSITION
The primary role of the I&E Technician is performing repair, installation, trouble shooting, calibration and some field design of electrical, electronic and pneumatic equipment. The technician utilizes a variety of test and analyzing equipment to calibrate, evaluate performance, and adjust controls for optimum plant performance.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Safety and Compliance: Follow and support company safety rules, ensuring all activities are performed safely and efficiently while fostering a culture of prevention.
- Electrical and Instrumentation Work: Perform repair, installation, troubleshooting, calibration, and some field design on electrical and instrument systems as directed.
- Documentation and Technical Support: Document changes and modifications, provide input for system procedures, and assist contract personnel with electrical and instrumentation tasks.
- System Proficiency: Work with 120/480 electrical systems, use calibration software, and interpret electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, and ladder logic for troubleshooting.
- SAP Utilization and Testing: Use SAP to manage work orders and participate in testing and commissioning of new installations to ensure proper functionality.
- Housekeeping and Communication: Maintain a clean, safe work area, promptly report abnormal conditions, and attend training to improve skills and stay updated on new techniques.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
- High School graduate or GED required.
- Associates degree in an Instrument or Electrical discipline preferred.
- At least 3 years of chemical/petrochemical experience as a Maintenance I&E Technician, 5+ years preferred.
- NCCER certification in Instrument Technician V3 is preferred.
- NCCER certification in Industrial Electrician V3 is preferred.
- Ability to work overtime, including being available for call out on holidays and weekends as is necessary for the continued operations of the plant per the call out list.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS
- Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of Excel, Word, and common computing software is required.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential.
- Analytical and Troubleshooting Ability: Strong computational, analytical, and troubleshooting skills are required.
- Instrumentation Knowledge (Preferred): Familiarity with pressure, temperature, level instruments, Coriolis meters, and loop drawings.
- Electrical Expertise (Preferred): Understanding of volt ohm meters, electrical ladder diagrams, 120/480 electrical systems, PLC logic, and P&IDs.
- Equipment Familiarity (Preferred): Experience with valves, transmitters, motors, lighting, and controls.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Chemical Handling: Work safely with hazardous and flammable chemicals using proper training, precautions, and equipment.
- Equipment Interaction: Operate around and manually handle heavy equipment, including using all types of hand tools.
- Environmental Conditions: Perform tasks outdoors year-round in various weather conditions, including standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting.
- Confined Spaces and Heights: Work in tight or confined spaces and at heights exceeding 25 feet, including climbing vertical ladders and stairs.
- Physical Demands: Lift up to 50 pounds and climb ladders up to 200 feet in 40-foot sections.
- Safety Gear: Wear respirators, fresh air masks, and other required safety equipment as needed.
