The opportunity

We have a vacancy for an I/E Supervisor. The role is responsible for delivering safe and efficient maintenance activities to the agreed schedule and cost. This will include direct line management of an INEOS technician team whilst also working closely with the 3rd party term contractors.

Key accountabilities

  • Uphold the “INEOS 20 BEHAVIOURAL & PROCESS SAFETY PRINCIPLES” & “Life Saving Rules” in all activities undertaken, including managing integrity.
  • You will be required to assist in developing an outline 12 week and detailed 5 week look ahead plan. Executing and controlling the plan will be the main function of this role, including the coordination of scheduled inspections according to SAP to ensure zero overdues. Reviewing of SAP Preventative Maintenance system with the Asset I/E Engineer and ensure work is executed to ensure zero overdues, organising planned equipment repairs and overhauls. Ongoing review of PIM’s with Asset I/E Engineer to ensure engineering and maintenance work meets plant reliability and safety KPI’s as well as being cost effective, compare KPIs for preventative vs corrective maintenance.
  • Planning and prioritisation of all day-to-day maintenance and engineering activities, including working with craft team, operations coordinators, other maintenance coordinators and trades supervisors on a day-to-day basis to ensure that all engineering and maintenance requests are executed as planned.
  • In cooperation with the Maintenance coordinator, assist in/submit permit requests, assisting in fault finding and Root Cause Investigations.
  • Working with the craft team and Maintenance Coordinator, to manage emergent work on a day-to-day basis, supported by service providers as required. Working with discipline engineers to ensure engineering cover is achieved and providing support and direction on day-to-day engineering issues with full support from discipline engineers.
  • You will manage cost control and monitoring, including the monitoring of work requests being submitted to the maintenance services provider, taking into consideration the priority of work and its impact on maintenance costs. Ensuring engineering and maintenance activities in the field are carried out in an efficient and effective and safe manner. Reviewing month end maintenance costs with discipline engineers and monitor cost profiles against budget.
  • Technical input and responsibilities, include ensuring the correct level of hazardous area equipment inspections to the IEC60079 standard are completed with effective supervision of the maintenance of safety critical equipment used in the detection of toxic, flammable gases that may cause harm to personnel, plant or equipment if left undetected. The ability to oversee repair and maintain, calibrate, inspect and modify process analysers and sample systems including NIR and GC as well as pH and conductivity analysers. Maintenance of the Bently Nevada vibration analysis systems hardware and First line fault finding on LV electrical, instrument and analyser systems. Complying with internal safety related systems and assist in developing and give input into the TAR/Shutdown Scope of work.

About you

 The successful candidate will have substantial experience of working within Chemical/ downstream Oil & Gas or associated major accident hazard process industries with a recognised apprenticeship and NVQ3 or equivalent. ONC (HNC preferred).

You will have a good practical understanding of ATEX and DSEAR and hold CompEX modules 01 – 04 certificate along with a good practical understanding of maintaining safety instrumented systems in line with IEC 61511.

Exposure to Distributed Control Systems, Honeywell HPM/C300, FSC/SM ESD systems is desirable and you will be required to undertake internal and external training courses to help gain or maintain competencies. A current IEE wiring regulations certificate would also be an advantage.

You will be HV Switching Certified and will be able to work in a flexible environment with all levels of staff and contractors. As a team player you will display role model behaviours and will be committed and enthusisatic in your approach.  

Knowledge of HV distribution and rotating equipment and associated control systems is essential along with the following technical knowledge:

  • Authorised to write safety documents to work on the site HV system and perform switching operations
  • Functional Safety and SIL for Instrument Technicians (IEC61511) certification
  • Competent in the use of IT based systems e.g. SAP, CMX, Emersons AMS, E&H Fieldcare.
  • Maintenance of hazardous area equipment
  • Small bore / swaglok experience and certification
  • Previous experience performing preventative and corrective maintenance on Analysers, GCs, TOC, NIR systems
  • Previous experience in installation and commissioning
  • 18th edition BS7671
  • Safe isolation of electrical systems.
  • Maintenance of LV electrical systems
  • The ability to fault find on I, A & E equipment and systems.
  • Read, understand and fault find using on I, A & E drawings and schematics
  • Knowledge of DCS and emergency shutdown systems.
  • Contribute to the setting up of common electrical control/procedural systems.
  • The ability to work at both the detailed and overview level with regard to I, A & E systems.
