HVAC Technician (Aromatics)   
Location
Wando, South Carolina 

The Position: 

The Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Technician repairs, services and maintenance HVAC equipment, systems and related or connected equipment for both buildings and process-related applications at the Cooper River Site. Our Training Program is a registered apprenticeship program with the Department of Labor and eligible for GI Bill Benefits.

What you will do: 

  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on HVAC systems and related equipment, including electrical components, controls, piping, pumps, and air distribution systems.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot HVAC equipment malfunctions and support operations and engineering with equipment issues as needed.
  • Track refrigerant usage and maintain accurate equipment and maintenance history records.
  • Assist with minor construction, remodeling, installation, and repair planning/scheduling activities for HVAC systems.
  • Prepare permits to work and task risk assessments, ensuring all work complies with company procedures, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance plant reliability, reduce costs, and optimize preventative maintenance programs.
  • Maintain exceptional housekeeping of shops, tools, trucks, and job sites, and participate in after-hours, weekend, holiday, and on-call support as required.

What you will bring: 

  • A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED
  • A minimum of five years HVAC experience in manufacturing environment, which includes a good working knowledge of equipment, materials, techniques, and safeguards in respective discipline for maintenance and construction.
  • A passing score on pre-employment tests, including mechanical aptitude, reading & mathematics.
  • Additional HVAC related certifications preferred.
  • EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification required.

Experience in general: 

  • The ability to read & follow detailed operating, maintenance and safety procedures.
  • The willingness & ability to be on call including nights, weekends & holidays.
  • The willingness & ability to relocate to or commute on a daily basis to the INEOS Cooper River Plant without company assistance.
  • Work with diverse groups to achieve results and maintain a positive working relationship with co-workers.
  • Understands and adheres to SHE processes and regulations.
  • Additional HVAC related certifications preferred.

Physical demands: 

  • The ability to routinely work in confined spaces for extended periods of time.
  • The ability to routinely climb stairs & ladders that can exceed 200 feet in total span with break decks.
  • The ability to lift & carry heavy objects up to 50 pounds in weight.
  • The ability to put on respirators and other important safety equipment.
  • Constant (67-100% of time) exerting over 50 pounds of force (lifting, pulling, pushing, torquing), standing, walking, climbing, bending, squatting, kneeling, reaching, carrying, repetitive motions.
  • Working outside 67-100% of time in temperature extremes and noisy environment
  • The willingness & ability to work in all weather conditions.

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge and skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. At INEOS Aromatics, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are carefully made based on the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
