Head of Technical and Maintenance

Part of INEOS Group, INEOS Tyssedal is a specialised metallurgical conversion plant in Norway. The new Head of Technical and Maintenance will provide overall leadership for the safe, reliable, legally compliant, environmentally sound and profitable maintenance of equipment for manufacture of products at the plant according to the strategy of business management. 

 

Responsibilities 

Reporting to the CEO and part of the leadership team, the Head of Technical and Maintenance leads the Technology and Maintenance department.  

Key responsibilities include: 

  • SHE Excellence Champion for the 20 principles of process and behavioral safety and life-saving rules  
  • Perform as the Maintenance & Technical Manager  
  • Drive to SHE (including process safety) targets and demonstrate improvements for employees and contractors. 
  • Prepare, agree and ensure delivery of annual maintenance fixed cost budget. Lead the analysis of maintenance spend and the identification and implementation of cost improvement initiatives.  
  • Develop systems to ensure reliability continually improves across the complex by improving equipment “bad actor” performance. 
  • Define and implement asset maintenance programs and procedures to maintain or improve asset performance and condition and develop plans to improve equipment reliability. 
  • Select, coach and manage leaders for mechanical and electrical departments, asset engineers to ensure defined statutory and Ineos engineering standards and requirements are understood and complied with 
  • Lead the use of engineering and maintenance Best Practice and Engineering Excellence 
  • Lead and coordinate CapEx projects for the site and ensure progress according to the projects defines in the long-term plan 
  • Develop and maintain KPIs to monitor team performance. 
  • Actively manage the competence and training needs of the team 
  • Provide leadership, guidance, coaching and decision making, to ensure employees understand company goals and have the knowledge and resources needed to accomplish them.  

 

Experience and Qualifications 

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have: 

  • A Bachelor’s Degree, with a Bachelor of Science degree preferred. 
  • At least 10yrs experience in a similar, heavy industrial environment e.g. mining, metal processing, oil & gas 
  • Experience as a supervisor/manager, with highly developed knowledge of operations or maintenance. 
  • Leadership/management skills 
  • Knowledge or various electrical equipment, instruments and pneumatic devices is an advantage 
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken), proficiency in Norwegian is not necessary

This role will be based at the plant in Tyssedal, Norway and relocation is required if you are not already living within a commutable distance from Tyssedal.
