The key focus for the US Onshore business is to acquire, explore and develop properties to produce natural gas, oil and NGL from underground reservoirs safely and efficiently. Key operated assets are in the Eagle Ford shale basin in South Texas, with over 2,000 wells producing net 36kBOE per day.

Owning and operating producing US onshore assets is part of INEOS Energy’s strategy to build a global integrated portfolio, fit for the energy transition, offering high-quality energy solutions to its customers.

Summary of Position

The Head of Land oversees land functions and land management operations. Plans and directs the development of land programs and strategies as well as the people function within the department.  

Responsibilities

  • Supervises Land Department and company-wide land management operations, including land administration.
    • Directly supervises Landmen, Land Coordinators, Lease Analysts, and Division Order employees.
    • Direct involvement with personnel decisions involving promotions, recruiting, hiring, and terminations.
  • Plans, organizes, directs, and controls activities necessary to acquire and protect company land rights to ensure uninterrupted operations.
  • Drives strategic planning and development of land acquisition and land rights; negotiates and directs the acquisition of land rights.
    • Purchase and sale agreements, assignments, due diligence
  • Executes and maintains all land related documentation, including leases, title opinions, and division orders.
  • Develops and oversees functions to ensure proper distribution of revenues to working interest and royalty owners and proper payment of lease and other contractual obligations.
  • Develops and negotiates contracts such as easements, releases of easements, deeds, leases, and other contracts subject to legal review.
  • Represents and protects the Company’s interest in meetings with representatives of outside agencies, land and mineral owners, working interest owners, attorneys, and government representatives; serves as company liaison in compliance matters regarding governmental controls of land and land use.
  • Delegates and reviews land and right‐of‐way projects within the Land Department; collaborates with the exploration and operations staff regarding land related issues.
  • Oversees the preparation of necessary information and data for all land related legal proceedings.
  • Employee relations including promoting appropriate and positive workplace relationships and effective workplace behaviors and offering support with regard to morale and disciplinary issues.
  • Maintains industry (oil and gas) knowledge and contacts and activity.
  • Provides assistance to Management and other departments as necessary.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a related field with at least fifteen years of related experience
  • Certified Professional Landman (CPL) certification preferred
  • Must be a self‐starter, highly motivated, detail oriented, and flexible as priorities and direction may change on short notice
  • Possesses expert knowledge of real estate transactions, appraisals, principles, and practices of land and right-of‐way in the oil and gas industry
  • Possesses proven executive leadership skills to empower and strengthen a high‐performing team
  • Possesses ability to strategically integrate numerous business issues, functions, and resources to contribute to the development of an effective action plan
  • Possesses excellent negotiation skills
  • Possesses excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Possesses ability to persuade, influence, and negotiate with colleagues, regulators, subordinates, superiors, and vendors

Relocation:

Preferential treatment will be granted to candidates residing in the Denver metropolitan area.

Compensation & Benefits

Please note that the compensation information that follows is a good faith estimate for this position only and is provided pursuant to the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act (EPEWA) and Equal Pay Transparency Rules. It is estimated based on what a successful Colorado applicant might be paid. It assumes that the successful candidate will be in Colorado or perform the position from Colorado. Similar positions located outside of Colorado will not necessarily receive the same compensation.

Compensation:

The annual rate for this position generally ranges between $209,000 - $231,000 with an opportunity for a company-wide annual discretionary bonus, of up to 40% of eligible pay. This role, depending on skill level and experience, may also participate in the Long-Term Incentive Plan with annual awards, vesting over three years, ranging from 15%-30% of stated annual target. These ranges are estimates, based on potential employee qualifications, operational needs, business performance to metrics, and other considerations permitted by law. The range may vary above and below the stated amounts, as permitted by Colorado Equal Pay Transparency Rule 4.1.2.
