Job Title: Geoscience Technician                                              Department: Subsurface & Development

Summary of Position
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Development Geologist/Geoscientist to be an integral part of the subsurface and planning team, focused on unconventional reservoir development in our newly formed US onshore division.  You will lead the geological characterization, assessment, and optimization of our unconventional hydrocarbon resources, and work with a multi-disciplinary team to drive excellence not only in sustainable reservoir management but also to progress economic development programs undertaken by the US onshore division. 

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the collection, processing, and interpretation of geological, geophysical and geospatial data, including well logs, seismic surveys, core samples, public data, and diagnostic reports.
  • Prepare and organize geotechnical/geospatial data, ensuring accuracy and consistency, within the 3D and GIS databases and digital repositories. 
  • Develop, operate and maintain accurate and up-to-date 3D geotechnical and GIS modeling databases for geological, well, land and production data. 
  • Use interpretive and analytical skills to identify targets, optimal drilling locations, and well planning placement. 
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including geoscientists, engineers and land professionals to create detailed maps, cross-sections, graphs, presentations and other visualizations using GIS and 3D modeling software.
  • Perform basic geological and geophysical analyses, such as lithology identification, stratigraphic correlation, seismic attribute analysis, and petrophysical calculations.
  • Assist in the preparation of technical reports, presentations, and visual aids to communicate geoscience or geospatial findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Stay informed about emerging technologies and industry trends in the geotechnical and GIS space of the oil and gas industry.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues with modeling software , collaborating with IT support and vendor support when necessary.
  • Work in compliance with safety and environmental regulations, promoting a culture of health, safety, and environmental responsibility.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Geophysics, Earth Sciences, GIS, Engineering or a related field; Associate degree with relevant experience may also be considered.
  • 5 years of experience as a Geoscience Technician, preferably in upstream unconventional assets.
  • Proficiency in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) and geoscience-related software applications (e.g., Petrel, Kingdom Suite, Decision Space) used for onshore unconventional assets.
  • Basic understanding of geological principles, geological data types, sedimentary processes, and structural geology.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex geospatial data.
  • Familiarity with drilling, completion, and production terminology and practices.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and datasets.
  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across disciplines and present technical information clearly.
  • Demonstrated commitment to adhering high standards in regards to safety and environment.

Relocation:

Preferential treatment will be granted to candidates residing in the Denver, Colorado metropolitan area.

Compensation & Benefits

Please note that the compensation information that follows is a good faith estimate for this position only and is provided pursuant to the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act (EPEWA) and Equal Pay Transparency Rules. It is estimated based on what a successful Colorado applicant might be paid. It assumes that the successful candidate will be in Colorado or perform the position from Colorado. Similar positions located outside of Colorado will not necessarily receive the same compensation.

Compensation:

The annual rate for this position generally ranges between $100,000 - $130,000 with an opportunity for a company-wide annual discretionary bonus, of up to 24% of eligible pay. This range is an estimate, based on potential employee qualifications, operational needs, business performance to metrics, and other considerations permitted by law. The range may vary above and below the stated amounts, as permitted by Colorado Equal Pay Transparency Rule 4.1.2.
