Job Context, Responsibilities & Accountabilities
INEOS is one of the largest petrochemical companies in the world and one of the largest employers in the Belgian chemical industry. INEOS today counts in Belgium 12 production and R&D sites and 3150 employees.
The General Ledger Accountant is providing the local statutory accounts and support by preparing tax returns attachments for the Belgian entities of the business. He will ensure that the companies comply with Belgian accounting, IFRS and corporate taxes rules. This requires very good knowledge and follow up of new laws to ensure accurate and updated information. All records are based on a mix of IFRS and Belgian accounting rules, that requires deep analysis on variances between the 2 accounting legislations.
Accountabilities:
General Accounting - Statutory Books
- Establish and maintain statutory books and records for the Belgian legal entities,
- Consolidate Accounts of companies working with different SAP systems
- Ensure that all reporting timetables are met and compliant with IFRS and Local Gaap
- Ensure that timely and accurate account reconciliations are maintained
- Ensure that other internal controls over the accounting records are adequate
- Collect and prepare financial information for the annual workers councils
- Liaise with the external financial auditors for Group and Statutory financial audits
- Develop expertise of the systems and processes used by the team
- Be able to provide advises and guidance to members of the section
- Ensure external compliance activities are submitted as required
- Liaise with Business Control teams and provide analysis to support business results
- Prepare and follow up legal matters relating to the Belgian entities
- Prepare ad-hoc reports for the Group (IFRS, Monthly and YE requirements...)
Taxes Support
- Support the Tax team by preparing account analysis for tax purpose as the non-deductible costs
- Understand and apply new tax legislation impacting legal entities of the Business
- Understand and apply legal matters in relation with the Code of Companies and Associations
- Support the Tax team with details relating to Transfer Pricing analysis files, BEPS returns
- Preparation of reconciliation 325.10, vouchers 281.50, …
- Reconciliation of Turnover versus VAT returns
- Preparation of Fixed Assets table
Key Skills & Knowledge and Competencies Required
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s in accounting with tax specialisation with minimum 5 years of experience
Specific Knowledge/Skills
- Knowledge of Belgian Gaap Accounting
- Knowledge of Belgian Corporate Taxes Rules
- Understanding of strong internal control principles
- Able to work to tight deadlines and reporting timetables
- SAP knowledge (FI/CO) is an asset
