INEOS Olefins and Polymers USA is one of the largest integrated producers of olefins and polyolefins in North America.  From its primary manufacturing locations at Chocolate Bayou, near Alvin, Texas and Battleground Manufacturing Complex in LaPorte, Texas, with significant operations at multiple sites in the US for WL Plastics, as well as smaller operations at Cedar Bayou and near Hobbs New Mexico.  O&P USA produces and/or markets of butadiene, ethylene, polypropylene, and high-density polyethylene, NGL feedstocks and PE Plastic pipes with annual revenue of over $6 billion.

How the Role Fits In:

This role, as a member of the financial reporting team, will provide support to senior management with SG&A reporting and other finance corporate functions.  This role requires the ability to communicate with employees of all levels and work in an open environment. 

Purpose of Job

The Financial Analyst will ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions, forecasting, and preparation of reports for Senior Managers, and members of the Executive Team.A flexible work schedule is required to meet monthly, quarterly, and especially year-end financial book close deadlines. This role is a key part of the Finance Reporting Team ensuring the integrity of the P&L and Balance Sheet.

    Responsibilities AND Accountabilities

    • Responsible for month-end reporting of SG&A and Corporate Overhead financial results and all related schedules for both O&P USA and related businesses and legal entities.
    • Prepare SG&A reporting for Senior management and cost center owners to review.
    • Coordinate monthly forecast and annual budgeting process for SG&A and Corporate Overhead.
    • Understand the cost allocation process within SAP as it relates to both internal reporting as well as product line reporting.
    • Track SG&A Product Line Cost Allocations.
    • Responsible for bank account reconciliations.
    • Review and record payroll and benefits activities.
    • Month-end activities, recurring monthly journal entries, GL & account reconciliation, accruals, and variance analysis. Must possess a solid understanding of debits and credits.
    • Track, record, and pay insurance premiums for O&P and all of INEOS North America.
    • Monitor intercompany charges activity, produce the required monthly billing, and ensure the intercompany receivable and payable accounts are reconciled.
    • Clear Intercompany Balances
    • Clear unapplied Cash at Month-End.
    • Assist with Daily Cash application.
    • Assist with AR/Credit Reporting
    • Work closely with the other members of the Finance & Accounting team.
    • Support compliance efforts by providing required information to external financial auditors as required.
    • Backup for other members of the Finance Team as needed.
    • Participate in special projects from time to time, as directed by management.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Skills & Knowledge Required

    Education/Experience

    • B.S. in Accounting or Finance with 5+ years of relevant experience required.
    • Master’s in business, accounting or finance will be strongly considered as positives.
    • Previous financial accounting experience required, preferably in the chemical industry. 
    • Chemical industry experiences a plus.

    Skills/Competencies

    • SAP FI module knowledge (knowledge of other modules also a plus)
    • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel. 
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability with attention to details.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills – some of the work in this role is deadline driven.
    • Self-starting individual who can work with a minimum of direction preferred.
    • Must have good communication skills and be able to discuss and explain financial transactions and processes in a clear and concise way to individuals across all levels of the organization.
    • Ability to work in a team and well-developed interpersonal skills.
    • Strong working knowledge of financial internal control processes.
