Your role: The Financial Accountant is the lead for the Fixed Asset process, recording and tracking all tangible and intangible fixed assets for Germany, Spain, Austria and Italy entities, including the creation and maintenance of master data to support the asset register, and the calculation and recording of depreciation.

In addition to these core responsibilities the jobholder is expected to be more widely involved in the financial accounting of the business, supporting the Regional Finance Manager with month end closure and a variety of other routine operational tasks and ad-hoc project activities.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Close cooperation with the tax consulting company for the preparation of monthly/annual financial statements according to the German GAAP (HGB) and tax returns for partnerships and corporations (including Regulatory Report, Management Report in German language, VAT, Corporation tax etc.)
  • Support Regional Finance Manager in Month end close activity, including preparation of standard journals, depreciation calculation, intercompany transactions including recharge, preparation of P&L / Balance Sheet for review.
  • Support in local budgeting and forecasting processes in collaboration with local finance managers
  • As a relatively new business, the jobholder will be joining us during a period of development, both of our ERP system (SAP S4 Hana) and also our processes and controls and they will therefore be expected to play a pivotal role in this development.
  • You will need to develop a good understanding of the accounting system including the Chart of Accounts (COA) along with the wider business structure, systems, and processes.
  • Controlling of ongoing business operations (including target/actual comparisons and liquidity planning)

What we are looking for:

  • Degree in Economics (with additional CAS in Finance, Accounting) or part qualified ACCA/CPA/CIMA, or relevant degree and have few years of professional experience in Accounting.
  • Financial understanding in general accounting in Local GAAP (HGB). In addition to IFRS (preferred), including month end closing.
  • Automotive industry or similar would be a positive but is not essential.
  • Knowledge of the SAP S4/HANA ERP system is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical skills and a proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to communicate clearly.
  • Logical thinking and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated and able to prioritise multiple activities.
  • Able to work in a busy team environment and adhere to strict deadlines.
  • Fluent spoken and written language skills in German & good language skills in English.
