INEOS has an exciting opportunity for a Finance Controller to join our Calabrian business at our Columbus, OH location.
INEOS Calabrian is a leading supplier of sulfur dioxide and related derivatives used in water treatment and other applications. The Company manufactures sulfur dioxide and downstream derivatives such as sodium bisulfite, sodium metabisulfite, and sodium thiosulfate and serves markets in North and South America. Its products are used in industrial water treatment applications as well as other specialty applications in mining, personal care, pulp and paper processing, food preservation, and oilfield production.
Job Objective
The Finance Controller is accountable for the external financial reporting of the company, to include the production of corporate reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, support periodic tax and audit requests, and meet all periodic reporting deadlines and obligations. The Finance Controller will coordinate with the Enterprises Group on all reporting requirements. This role with effectively liaison with external Tax resources, Auditors and other external stakeholders. This position is very hands on and is responsible for accounting functions for both US and Canada operations. A flexible work schedule is required to meet monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial book close deadlines.
Key Responsibilities of the position include, but not limited to:
- Calculate financial and operational metrics
- Ensure that reporting meets all legal and company standards and requirements
- Ensure proper provision review and understanding of statistical declarations
- Ensure proper accounting standards are maintained, including monthly balance sheet reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts, with details appropriate for the account being reconciled
- Work closely with the Plant Controller to ensure proper classification of financial activities
- Challenge forecasts and review variances to provide timely feedback on business performance goals
- Prepare consolidated reporting for the Calabrian businesses
- Manage and coordinate month and year end closing activities, including Hyperion (HFM) process
- Develop process for ongoing payroll reporting and analysis, working with HR teams in Port Neches and Columbus, OH as needed
- Manage & coordinate bank accounting & cash management
- Own Weekly & monthly cashflow forecasting
- Review, approve, & release weekly payments (electronic, ACH, etc.)
- Manage bank account balances & manage fund transfers between accounts, as well as between companies
- Review customer credit requests and update sales system with customer credit limits. Develop process for analysis and reporting of customer credit usage
- Coordinate tax accounting and processes with INEOS tax team
- File annual TX Sales Tax Reports, leveraging INEOS tax team
- Prepare annual tax questionnaire(s) as required by INEOS tax team
- Maintain compliance with regulations of federal, state, and local tax authorities with guidance from INEOS tax team.
- Ensure monthly GST/HST (Canada) taxes are filed, and paid, timely
- Ensure Federal & State (US) tax payments, estimated & actual, are made timely and accurately based on the calculations provided by the INEOS tax team
- File annual 1099 Misc tax forms timely
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance Business Administration, or related discipline
- Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designations preferred
- Detailed knowledge of GAAP (required) and IFRS (preferred) accounting principles, including Canada GAAP
- 5+ years of progressively responsible experience working for a major company or division of a large corporation preferred
- Versatile in Microsoft office products with advanced Excel ability.
- Advanced experience with enterprise-level accounting systems (SAP, Oracle); Microsoft Dynamics preferred
- Planning and organizing skills
- Firm understanding of technical accounting & finance aspects of role
- Expertise in data analytics.
