The Position: Environmental & Quality Coordinator
As a member of the SHEQ Team, reporting to the SHEQ Manager the Environmental and Quality Coordinator will coordinate the Quality Management System, Document Management System and Chemistry Industry Association of Canada (CIAC) Responsible Care program for the site. This role will also act as a resource for site environment programs and issues for all areas. This role is responsible for ensuring the site maintains/passes ISO9001, 140001 and Responsible Care Recertification and Compliance Audits.
What you will do:
• Manage, verify, coordinate the Environmental and Quality Management Systems (ISO9001 and ISO14001) to maintain certification
• Develop and implement the strategy for the site to achieve CIAC Responsible Care certification. Maintain this certification through verification audits
• Customer Service/Sales Liaison – includes approval of & agreement to customer specifications; investigating & responding to customer complaints
• Ensure product, raw material, customer complaints, calibration, and system nonconformities are addressed
• Document Management System ownership & administration
• Manage/Lead Internal Audit program
• Site communications including Quality and Environment Management Systems requirements
• Coordinate the Responsible Care Management System for the site.
• Lead & support site incident investigations related to the environment
• Responsible for implementing, managing, evaluating, updating, reporting and providing training to site on site environmental programs and plans as directed.
What you will bring:
• BSc in Environmental Science, Biology, or related field, or equivalent
• Quality Management System – Certified Auditor
• 10+ years experience in the environmental field specifically benzene reduction and benzene abatement
• 5-7 years of experience auditing quality management systems
• 5+ years representing an organization through external interfaces including with Regulators, First Nations, Industry Forums
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
• Familiar with environmental regulations for an industrial chemical processing facility
Physical demands:
- Exerting up to 40 pounds of force occasionally and 10 pounds of force frequently and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
- Must have the ability to see written documents, computer screens and to adjust focus and to receive detailed information through oral communication, make discriminations in sound, and perceive the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels, with or without correction.
- This position is considered a “safety critical job”, which requires for the employee to be always alert, able to concentrate on their task at hand, and not impaired by medications (prescription, non-prescription, illegal or legal substances including alcohol), or any other mental condition which adversely affects alertness, concentration, or judgment.
- Must be able to climb stairs, ladders, platforms and towers.
- Must be physically capable of performing in a field environment, including the wearing of respiratory protection. Must pass a post offer physical and drug screen.
