Compensation Grade

A. Purpose of the job: describe in 1 phrase what contribution the job is expected to make to the organization’s objectives.

Responsible for implementing programs and processes to maintain compliance with water and waste regulations including applicable permitting to meet federal, state, and local regulations.

C. Accountabilities of the job: describe the main results expected from the job.

Accountability 1: Permitting

  • Responsible for updating and maintaining assigned environmental permits
  • Work with 3rd party contractor to performing modeling and data to support permit submissions to authorities
  • Reapply for permits as necessary upon expiration
  • Maintain a good working relationship with key agency personnel

Accountability 2: Waste & Water Compliance

  • Responsible for development and execution of facility Waste Management programs, including but not limited to RCRA Hazardous Waste Management and Treatment, Recycling and Waste Minimization efforts
  • Interpret and implement state and federal regulations and determine applicability for the site
  • Air quality modeling when necessary to support permitting activities
  • Review and collaborate to implement process changes as necessary for permit compliance
  • Evaluation of current performance trends to provide feedback and assistance in correction deviations
  • Manage partner, lease, and guest operations to mitigate environmental impact to site

Accountability 3: Site

  • Assist all Asset Managers in understanding compliance measures and assist directly when needed.
  • Sets performance objectives and provides leadership to minimize impact on the environment.
  • Site coaching of operational leaders for compliance conformity.
  • Lead the development of compliance strategy and ensure delivery of regulations with least impact to the facility.
  • Develop and implement plans with new site projects to manage the environmental impact of various projects
  • Maintaining working knowledge of the new technologies developed by the industry and government regulators.
  • Development of plans including SWPPP, SPCC, OSPR, groundwater monitoring, and drinking water monitoring
  • Recommend and develop training for site environmental topics and regulatory required training

Accountability 4: Environmental Group

  • Work closely with environmental engineer supporting air and compliance to ensure overall site compliance
  • Supervise waste technician and provide guidance on daily tasks
  • Manage technician performance

Ensure required training for technicians to meet waste regulations and job development

F. Required profile:

Level of Education & Knowledge:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline

Experience & Technical Skills:

  • 5+ years experience working in the field of waste and water compliance activities.
  • Well versed in local, state and federal environmental laws.
  • Strong skillset in written communication including spelling, vocabulary and grammer.
  • Energetic and dynamic with excellent presentation skills.

Competencies & Behavioral Skills

  • Environmental knowledge including air, waste, and TPDES permitting, waste regulations, wastewater regulations, drinking water regulations
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Ability to engage and interact with regulatory agencies
