Organizational context and job purpose

The INEOS Battleground Manufacturing Complex Electrical Reliability Team Leader is responsible for managing the safe operation, maintenance, and reliability improvements of the Electrical Distribution System (EDS).  This role is accountable for the 138kV, 69kV, 12470V, & Cogen Distribution Systems.  The Electrical Reliability Team Leader provides expert leadership in maintaining and operating the electrical distribution system and provides expertise in electrical maintenance techniques/technologies.   

How the Role Fits in:

This position will be responsible for ensuring that all Electrical Maintenance activities are executed in a safe and efficient manner, and that repair quality, standards and practices are maintained to ensure equipment integrity and reliability.  In addition, the Electrical Reliability Team Leader is responsible for providing technical expertise and troubleshooting assistance to the electrical maintenance department on medium voltage and low voltage motor controls (AC & DC motor controls), solid state/electronic relays, UPS systems, high resistance grounding systems, DC systems (batteries/chargers), etc. 

This position reports directly to the Instrument/Electrical/Analyzer Reliability Superintendent, Battleground Manufacturing Complex and has 5 direct reports; (1) Electrical Reliability Engineer, (2) Electrical Reliability Specialists, & (2) Electrical Distribution System Testing Specialists; & contract resources as needed.

Responsibilities AND Accountabilities

This position is accountable for understanding and putting into practice the INEOS 20 Principles. Additionally, this position has the special responsibility to cascade the understanding of these principles through their team as well as the contractor community.

Roles and Accountabilities  

  • Ensure SHE delivery and compliance throughout maintenance execution; serve as a champion for safety for INEOS and Contract personnel throughout the site. 
  • Ensure SHE compliance for direct reports as it relates to training, Action Item closure, and other PSM and Safety related items.
  • Responsible for the efficient execution or daily work within the Electrical Reliability Department.  This includes ensuring that proper planning, resource staffing, and work practices are in place; provides QA/QC oversight of maintenance and testing activities. 
  • Responsible for ensuring the development of all individuals reporting through the Electrical Reliability Team.  This includes EDS Technician training and development.
  • Develop and provide on-the-job training to EDS Technicians, E/I Reliability Team, Electrical Maintenance Department, and Operations. 
  • Ensure proper and adequate Electrical Reliability/EDS support for both TAR planning and execution as well as Capital Project scope development, design and execution.
  • Create/review/approve switching orders for the safe switching of EDS equipment. 
  • Accountable for the site’s Electrical System Model.  Perform Arc Flash, Coordination, and Load Flow studies.
  • Accountable for maintaining PowerDB for EDS equipment.
  • Responsible for ensuring the site’s electrical distribution system is maintained.
  • Provide technical support to the Electrical Craft, operations, & projects.  This would include equipment specification, diagnostics, failure analysis, inspection and testing, training and QA/QC. 
  • Create detailed Scope of Work documents, perform MOC’s, and troubleshoot operational and maintenance issues.
  • Manage the EDS Reliability programs (transformer DGA program, PDA program, and substation batteries)
  • Create and maintain EDS procedures.
  • Ensure electrical equipment and PM’s are properly identified in SAP and aligned with the Electrical Mechanical Integrity standard.
  • Manage day-to-day support for Operations, Maintenance, and Capital Projects while communicating long term reliability strategies and asset objectives/goals.

  • Experience and knowledge of industry standards and codes as they relate to completion of area projects
  • Experience and knowledge of TAR planning, budgeting and execution

Most important activities:

  • Strong electrical equipment testing skills with knowledge on assessment and repair methodology. 
  • Experience and understanding of electrical one-lines, breaker control schematics, motor control schematics, protection schemes, and Industry Standards (NETA MTS, NEC, NFPA, API, etc.)
  • Experience with 480 V, 2300 V, 4160 V, and 12.47 KV systems with 138/69 KV systems

Education/Experience

  • Engineering Degree preferably as an instrument/electrical maintenance or reliability engineer in a manufacturing, mechanical, process facility, or a related field.
  • Minimum Five (5) years of experience
  • A strong drive, sense of urgency, and excellent problem-solving abilities are essential for success in this role.
  • Must be able to work effectively across all disciplines and levels of the organization in a persuasive and credible manner.
