ABOUT OUR OPPORTUNITY

We have an excellent opportunity for an Electrical Power Distribution Asset and Operations Engineer to join our Power and Distribution Asset.

The purpose of the role is to deliver and maintain an Electrical Power Distribution and Generation asset care policy that supports Asset SHE, cost and reliability performance targets.  It also ensures operation of the Electrical Power Generation and Distribution systems are carried out to meet Ineos Policies, Procedures and Legislation.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Define and implement asset care policy for all Electrical Power Distribution and Generation equipment to ensure delivery of ongoing asset reliability, integrity and cost commitments.
  • Specify and audit all inspection activities to ensure continual legal compliance.
  • Define all asset Electrical Engineering standards, procedures and practices to ensure full compliance with current and future discipline integrity and legislative requirements.
  • Carry out the duties of Electrical Duty Holder as defined in GMP32, Maintenance Standard 12-A-035 and the Electricity at Work Regulations. 
  • Maintain asset spares and equipment holding to maximise asset reliability and to drive maintenance and TAR efficiency/cost performance.
  • Provide discipline expertise and root cause analysis in troubleshooting asset vulnerabilities to minimise impact on the short through long term operating plan.
  • Provide discipline expertise for all Electrical power Distribution and Generation improvement projects and act as formal discipline sign off to ensure required level of service delivery. Responsible for allocated elements of Electrical Power Distribution projects: engineering design, design appraisal, purchasing, installation and commissioning as appropriate.
  • Ensure correct overall, electrical Power Distribution and Generation spend to meet asset requirements within available budget and where required, drive appropriate prioritisation.
  • Specify TAR work scope requirements (in accordance with asset strategy) and assist in execution to support delivery of safe, on time and to budget TAR's.
  • Coach all relevant asset Operations and support personnel to ensure sufficient competence to effectively execute their core roles and generate enhanced service delivery to the business.
  • To apply expert knowledge to carry out Electrical Power Distribution and Generation operations and commissioning. Have control of day-to-day operations of the network, making decisions the consequences of which could result in serious injury or death, multiple plant shutdowns and significant financial loss to the site.
  • Apply expert knowledge to provide site wide technical Guidance and assistance to I/E Asset Engineers and multi-skilled technicians and craftsmen in the operation and maintenance of electrical equipment to support plant specific activity to meet Ineos Policies, Procedures and Legislation.
  • Using specialist knowledge of safe control of work systems to control the electrical control of work systems to support site wide electrical activities. Provide Guidance to the site on electrical safety and the site Electrical Safety Rules. Ensure that work on or adjacent to High Voltage electrical equipment, site wide, is carried out safely.
  • Accountable for third party contractors to support maintenance, construction and remediation activities on HV and LV electrical systems, ensuring work is carried out to the required standards and within set timescales and financial constraints.
  • To ensure all appropriate records, drawings, files, and Documentum systems are updated as required. Implementation of and compliance with HSE issues including Traction, LOLER, PUWER, manual handling, risk assessments and site procedures.

SPECIAL FEATURES

  • The INEOS Grangemouth and Finnart high voltage distribution systems are closely integrated with the National Grid and the Fortum CHP power station. Operation and maintenance of the INEOS Grangemouth HV distribution network frequently requires coordination with these organisations. Successful delivery of commissioning or maintenance activities often requires complex and detailed preparation of manpower and switching plans and any error has the capability of interrupting power to the Grangemouth Site and Finnart.
  • Ineos O&P UK Grangemouth is a Top Tier Control of Major Accident Hazards (COMAH) site. Most plants are classified relating to potentially explosive atmospheres. The jobholder will hold specialist knowledge relating to electrical equipment used in explosive atmospheres and in Legislation such as Atmosphere Explosive (ATEX) and Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmosphere Regulation (DSEAR).
  • Job holder is required to be authorised for complex HV switching with multiple points of supply, responsible for operational switching of the high voltage network at all voltage levels, up to and including 33 kV.
  • Train, assess and recommend personnel to be authorised for high and low voltage switching up to and including 33kV, to achieve Legal compliance.
  • Job holder is required to perform the role of Subject Matter Expert (SME) for O&P UK electrical standards.
  • Deputises for the Power Distribution Manager.
  • Jobholder is required to participate in a formal 1 in 4 standby rota and work outwith normal hours as necessary to support planned and unplanned work.

ABOUT YOU

You should:

  • Have an Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent, leading to be a Chartered Engineer or be operating at Chartered Engineer level with significant experience in the process, heavy manufacturing industry.
  • Shall have specialist knowledge of the operation, commissioning, demolition and maintenance of High and Low voltage electrical systems.
  • Will have the skills required to manage teams of HV network operations and maintenance staff, give guidance to I/E Asset engineers and engineering population, have proven operational and strong decision making skills.
  • Knowledge of theory and practice of managing equipment reliability systems and processes e.g. asset care.
  • Strong understanding of discipline legislative and technology requirements and demonstrated ability to appropriately translate to equipment operation, inspection/maintenance regimes.
  • Skilled in troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
