Job Title: Drilling and Completions Data Scientist           

Department: Drilling & Completions

Summary of Position
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Drilling & Completions Data Scientist to be an integral part of the team focused on unconventional reservoir development in our newly formed US onshore division. This is a critical role that provides advanced and varied technical support and data analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Push and pull data between systems to be used for analysis, creatively identifying opportunities for improvement, and leaning into automation capabilities for increased efficiency.
  • Initiate and develop more accurate and reliable data analyses and reporting methodologies.
  • Own and administer the AFE process including the creation of a standardized template and the coordination to populate necessary information with necessary stakeholders.
  • Create and maintain reports and spreadsheets for drilling, completions, production and facility operations, data manipulation, and extraction.
  • Update well files, procedure information, wellbore diagrams, and performance tracking documents.  Collaborate with Engineering teams on data queries and input.
  • Provide technical support for and perform the creation of dashboards. Collaborate with product design and Engineering teams to develop understanding of needs for Dashboard creation.
  • Assist engineers in the preparation of technical reports, analyses, evaluations, and presentations as needed.  Enable smarter business processes by using analytics for meaningful insights.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
    • Data Science background preferred.
  • At least 3 years of experience working in a technician capacity in an upstream organization with a focus on leveraging data to drive business decisions.
  • Proficient knowledge of the industry and operations.
  • Proficiency with data mining, mathematics, and statistical analysis
  • Proficient use of
    • Advanced Excel formulas (VLOOKUP, MATCH, TRANSPOSE, PivotTable, PowerPivot, etc.)
    • Tableau, SQL, and/or similar programming languages (ex: Java/Python, SAS)
    • Dashboard creation software such as Power BI and Spotfire
  • Experience working in Peloton products, SAP, and the following discipline specific skills:
    • Drilling: AFE process. May include state and federal permitting and regulatory reporting requirements.
    • Completions: Completions design and executions.
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, research-oriented group that has several concurrent projects.

Relocation:

Preferential treatment will be granted to candidates residing in the Denver, Colorado metropolitan area.

Compensation & Benefits

Please note that the compensation information that follows is a good faith estimate for this position only and is provided pursuant to the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act (EPEWA) and Equal Pay Transparency Rules. It is estimated based on what a successful Colorado applicant might be paid. It assumes that the successful candidate will be in Colorado or perform the position from Colorado. Similar positions located outside of Colorado will not necessarily receive the same compensation.

Compensation:

The annual rate for this position generally ranges between $96,000- $146,000 with an opportunity for a company-wide annual discretionary bonus, of up to 40% of eligible pay. This role, depending on skill level and experience, may also participate in the Long-Term Incentive Plan with annual awards, vesting over three years, ranging from 8-16% of stated annual target. These ranges are estimates, based on potential employee qualifications, operational needs, business performance to metrics, and other considerations permitted by law. The range may vary above and below the stated amounts, as permitted by Colorado Equal Pay Transparency Rule 4.1.2.
