Distribution Manager

This role is responsible for INEOS Pigments distribution, logistics, supply chain management, and warehousing functions to ensure the ongoing success of the business and alignment with business strategies and objectives.

Provides ongoing direction to third party providers of transportation and distribution centers to deliver against agreed-upon key performance measures; manages and directs all distribution functions at the Ashtabula complex and other INEOS Pigments locations.

Distribution Management

  • Manage and direct all distribution, logistics, warehouse activities to meet the needs of the business.
  • Develop a distribution strategy to deliver products to customers at best cost and lead time.
  • Manage the day-to-day implementation and administration of legally compliant distribution policies, programs, and best practices for the operation, including Warehousing, Transportation, and Distribution.
  • Manage transportation, and company owned and 3PL warehouse activities that support the flow of products to customers and storage facilities. This includes selecting carriers and third-party providers, regulatory adherence, and safety compliance audits.
  • Manage the transportation and distribution of export and domestic orders, ensuring accurate and timely documentation as required.
  • Liaise with Commercial to ensure the accurate and timely delivery of finished products to customers.
  • Work with land freight and shipping providers, agents, and brokers about the exploration and documentation of finished products.
  • Responsible for ensuring accurate stock levels and inventory at the Distribution Center and Warehouse.
  • Work collaboratively with Commercial, Manufacturing, IBP, and Transportation to identify, establish and share best practices to meet customer needs.

Global Fulfilment

  • Monitor distribution related customer complaints and respond within agreed timing guidelines (Critical complaints – within 17 days with a Root Cause Analysis; Serious and Significant complaint – within 28 days) for complaints assigned to Customer Service. Resolve issues associated with Customer Complaints in a timely, complete manner.
  • Oversee the customer product sampling process, critical for new customer evaluations and sales contracts.
  • Ensure the month end transactional close process for North America is executed in a timely and accurate manner to enable the financial close process to proceed.
  • Maintain close relationships and coordinate activities with Sales, Market Teams, Manufacturing, S&OP, Distribution, Credit/Accounts Receivable and Latin America Customer Service.

Planning/Compliance

  • Ensure all logistics and transportation related activity is compliant with safety, DOT, rail and ocean shipping regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO9002 procedures and instructions. Represents the North America Commercial organization and ensures compliance in all aspects of ISO procedures in various Quality reviews.
  • Ensure that all warehouse receiving and inventory transfer activities comply with financial controls requirements.

Safety, Leadership & Development

  • Maintain a working environment that provides for the Safety, health, and welfare of Distribution, Logistics and Warehouse personnel.
  • Serves as a team leader and promotes the 20 principles of process and behavioral safety and life-saving rules

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's of Science Degree in Supply Chain, Transportation, Engineering, Logistics, Business or similar field.
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of leadership experience.
  • Prior experience leading and developing a team of direct reports in both Logistics and Warehousing, Prior experience in multi-facility management, including 3rd party Logistic Providers.
  • Must have experience in all HAZMAT and DOT regulations.
  • Progressive P&L responsibility in Transportation function, including rail, less then truckload (LTL), Truckload, and international shipping.
  • Proven negotiation skills resulting in significant cost savings and measurable service improvements.
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of Lean methodologies.
  • Experience in change management and process improvement.
  • ISO 9001/ISO 14001 Awareness.
  • In-depth knowledge of and experience with transportation-related functions and processes, including export customs processes, EDI integration, SAP/WMS applications.
  • Chemical knowledge preferred.
  • Functionality with various computer programs, specifically Microsoft Office Suite and SAP.
  • Six Sigma training is a plus.
  • Leadership in union environments is a plus.
