Job Title: Development Geologist      

Department: Subsurface & Development

Summary of Position
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Development Geologist/Geoscientist to be an integral part of the subsurface and planning team, focused on unconventional reservoir development in our newly formed US onshore division.  You will lead the geological characterization, assessment, and optimization of our unconventional hydrocarbon resources, and work with a multi-disciplinary team to drive excellence not only in sustainable reservoir management but also to progress economic development programs undertaken by the US onshore division. 

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive geological and geophysical analysis of unconventional reservoir formations to suggest best practices in development and maintenance of reservoirs.

  • Integrate well log, seismic, core data, petrophysical analysis and other relevant information to develop accurate geological reservoir models.

  • Interpret complex geological and geophysical data to provide actionable insights into the most optimized target zone window, well placement, completion strategies and overall development planning approaches.

  • Identify lithological, mineralogical, and petrophysical characteristics impacting reservoir quality and production potential.

  • Complete pre-spud well geological programs and work hand in and with operational geologists to provide oversight on drilling hazards and target zone decisions during the execution activities.

  • Analyze and provide insight into the potential of other prospective reservoir horizons within our leased acreage position.

  • Prepare maps, detailed reports, presentations, and technical documents to communicate findings, recommendations, and lookback results of geoscientific matters to key stakeholders.

  • Assist in 3rd party operated proposals and business development reviews as needed.

  • Stay updated with industry trends, new technologies, and best practices related to unconventional reservoir development.

  • Explore and implement innovative approaches to enhance reservoir characterization, modeling, and production optimization.

  • Work in compliance with safety and environmental regulations, promoting a culture of health, safety, and environmental responsibility.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors, Master's or Ph.D. in Geology, Earth Sciences, Geoscience or a related field.

  • At least 5 years of proven upstream experience, with focus in unconventional reservoir characterization and development.

  • Strong understanding of geophysical and petrophysical properties, log analysis, and core data interpretation.

  • Proficiency in reservoir related and mapping softwares (e.g. Kingdom, Starsteer, ARC GIS, etc)

  • Experience with Python, SQL, Spotfire, Power BI, Snowflake, Enverus and/or other business insights and data warehousing applications.   

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work with complex datasets and adapt to new challenges and technologies .

  • Excellent teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills to convey technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Experience in working with regulatory compliance related to unconventional reservoir exploration and production

  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and environmental regulations.

Relocation:

Preferential treatment will be granted to candidates residing in the Denver, Colorado metropolitan area.

Compensation & Benefits

Please note that the compensation information that follows is a good faith estimate for this position only and is provided pursuant to theColorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act (EPEWA) and Equal Pay Transparency Rules. It is estimated based on what a successful Colorado applicant might be paid. It assumes that the successful candidate will be in Colorado or perform the position from Colorado. Similar positions located outside of Colorado will not necessarily receive the same compensation.

Compensation:

The annual rate for this position generally ranges between $140,000 - $180,000 withan opportunity for a company-wide annual discretionary bonus, of up to 27% of eligible pay.This role, depending on skill level and experience, may also participate in the Long-Term Incentive Plan with annual awards, vesting over three years, ranging from 8-15% of stated annual target. These ranges are estimates, based on potential employee qualifications, operational needs, business performance to metrics, and other considerations permitted by law. The range may vary above and below the stated amounts, as permitted by Colorado Equal Pay Transparency Rule 4.1.2.
