The Olefins & Polymers USA division of INEOS USA LLC (O&P) ranks among North America's largest producers of olefins and polyolefins. Within this division, the Pipeline Supply Organization (PSO) manages the Stratton Ridge (SR) salt dome storage facility, the Hobbs Fractionation Complex (HFC), and over 500 miles of pipelines in the South Texas area. The Hobbs Fractionation Complex is responsible for separating Y-Grade NGLs and producing C2s, C3s, and C4+, playing a crucial role in the CBW supply portfolio. The Stratton Ridge salt dome storage facility stores various feedstocks and products, seamlessly integrating with the pipeline systems for efficient transport and distribution.

How the Role Fits In:

Under the direction of a company supervisor, the Damage Prevention Technician will perform work that involves visual inspection of predefined construction areas and reading and interpretation of utility maps to determine the presence of underground utilities, while using specialized electronic equipment to detect and locate INEOS assets near construction activities.

The utilities may include (but not be limited to) gas, electric, cable TV, telecommunications, sanitary sewer, water lines, street lighting and other facilities within the predefined construction area.

The Damage Prevention Technician will be responsible for having detailed knowledge of INEOS pipeline locations, routing and specific                requirements of construction activity near INEOS assets.

Responsibilities AND Accountabilities

Accountability 1:  SHE Stewardship

  • Visibly supports and promotes the INEOS 20 Principles
  • All activities are performed in accordance with established company, local, state, federal, and health safety, and environmental regulations and procedures.
  • Promotes a safe work environment to contractors working on or around INEOS assets
  • Verifies clear understanding of work scope, carefully reviews the type of work and potential safety hazards.

Accountability 2:  General Duties

  • Use laptop computer or other devices to receive, document and close out excavation notices, both during normal hours and after hours.
  • Read and interpret utility maps / prints to identify the type and size of underground utilities.
  • Use assigned communication equipment to effectively communicate with excavators, utility reps, and company personnel, regarding underground facilities.
  • Operate different types of electronic detection equipment to locate and mark under-ground facilities within prescribed accuracy limits.
  • Perform light excavation with a shovel, to expose buried utilities when necessary.
  • Provide accurate documentation and/or sketches related to all locates completed.
  • Receive and respond to excavation notices during normal and after hours in accordance with established time requirements.
  • Operate company vehicles in a safe manner and maintain professional appearance.
  • Be able to perform manhole entry using assigned equipment and safety devices.
  • Perform work in all weather conditions, during normal and after hours.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Skills & Knowledge Required

Education/Experience

  • High School Diploma, or GED equivalent.
  • Two (2) to five (5) years related pipeline field experience

Skills & Knowledge

  • Successfully complete company’s locator training program and pass applicable written and field tests.
  • Develop general knowledge of State and Local damage prevention regulations
  • Develop general knowledge of utility construction patterns and layout.
  • Learn and apply safety measures relating to motor vehicle operations, manhole entry and other field related matters.

Licenses And Other Requirements

  • Valid State driver's license, including an MVR record that is deemed acceptable by the company.
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and background checks. Upon employment, will be subject to random drug testing in compliance with federal, state and company guidelines.
  • Must be able to obtain a TWIC
  • Must be able to obtain access to all facilities that have INEOS pipeline assets
