Customs Operations Specialist

Your Role

To implement and execute procedures so that all production parts import deliveries and service parts comply with all required customs, VAT and Duty regimes to ensure that INEOS reduces and/or defers costs when and where possible.

Responsabilities include (but are not limited to)

  • Execute implementation of the potential qualification status of the model(s) in line with the relevant Free Trade Agreements (FTAs). Ensuring that the Rules of Origin (Preferential) are met and secured to maximise profitability
  • Contribute to process definition for all relevant import & trade compliance topics ensuring those are properly designed and implemented within the SAP GTS module
  • Provide guidance and input for After-Sales to ensure duty savings are optimized by utilising the relevant customs & indirect tax regimes
  • Work cross functionally with the finance, procurement, logistics, manufacturing and sales teams if required to ensure duty savings are optimized by utilising the relevant customs & indirect tax regimes and free trade agreements.
  • Troubleshooting with suppliers and logistics service providers on import delivery
  • Submit import and export clearance entries to the Customs Authorities.
  • Provide guidance and knowledge to enable customs compliant execution of international part shipment
  • Collaborate with the required customs authorities in UK, France, and where else needed
  • Liaise with supplier management team to ensure all HS codes are provided by part suppliers, are understood, and applied to all commodities – and that the most advantageous codes are applied where they are compliant
  • Verify HS codes ensuring correct management of such in INEOS SAP system
  • To execute the relevant import customs processes for all manufacturing, dispatch, and service facilities, and to integrate those processes seamlessly into the INEOS business, including In Plant Logistics, IT and After-Sales.
  • To be fully aware of all current customs and duty regimes in parts origin to develop procedures that take full advantage of these changes but remain compliant and do not threaten the integrity of INEOS Automotive or the wider INEOS Group.
  • Support Creation and implement best practice customs, principles, policies and processes across the organisation to improve operational and financial performance. This should include working with the wider INEOS Group where applicable.
  • Whilst respecting sound principles and processes, challenge the traditional automotive supply chain thinking, seek to emulate where appropriate the best practices from high tech and retail industries by adopting digital solutions where commercially viable.
  • Ensure targets on Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) for duties paid & quality of master data (e.g HS Codes & COO) are achieved
  • Contribute to the SCM Operation function meeting all the set targets for Cost, Quality, Safety, Environment and Delivery as defined by the business in each financial year.
  • To ensure the safety of all INEOS employees, staff, contractors, suppliers, and Service Providers engaged within the supply chain function and is successful execution.

Requirements

We are looking for

  • Fluent English Speaker
  • Able to work at the office and on home office
  • Willingness to be able to travel
  • French language skills are an advantage
  • Experimented in customs experience and proven record of strategic or planning role required
  • Deep practical experience of UK and European trade Regulations,
  • Confident in dealing with managers, Government officials and Lawyers,
  • Experienced in operationalizing international trade legal requirements,
  • Advanced Experience in import trade compliance required
  • Ability to work under pressure and within high uncertain environment,
  • Automotive experience preferred or similar dynamic environment,
  • Create strong cross-functional working relationships that create value through identifying and implementing change,
  • Demonstrated understanding of the importance of effective customs processes in critical supply chain operations. Including transportation, carrier management, lean inventory and vehicle export and import,
  • Must be innovative, challenging, and entrepreneurial, believes in continuous improvement and the application of lean principles
