Since Sir Jim Ratcliffe announced Project Grenadier in 2017, our team at INEOS Automotive has grown rapidly. From a start-up to the scaled business we are now, we’ve hit some huge milestones along the way. Despite some global challenges, we brought our first vehicle, the INEOS Grenadier, from a vision to prototype and to market in just five years. And now, as the first customer deliveries of our INEOS Grenadier have begun, we look to the future with our first all-electric vehicle.

The Role: The Customs Operations Lead ensures that all parts deliveries, manufacture and distribution of vehicles and service parts comply with all required customs, VAT and Duty regimes. You support the Manager Trade Compliance and Customs in structuring internal customs activity processes to ensure that INEOS reduces and/or defers costs when and where possible.

You will work closely with French authorities. Experiences in this field and French language are nice to have.

Accountabilities of the job (but not limited):

It is within your responsibility ...

  • To define the relevant customs processes for all manufacturing, dispatch, and service facilities, and you integrate those processes seamlessly into the INEOS business, including In Plant Logistics, IT, Outbound Distribution and After-Sales
  • To be fully aware of all current and future customs and duty regimes in both parts origin and vehicle destination markets, to develop procedures that take full advantage of these changes but remain compliant and do not threaten the integrity of INEOS Automotive or the wider INEOS Group
  • Create and implement best practice customs, principles, policies and processes across the organisation to improve operational and financial performance. This should include working with the wider INEOS Group where applicable.
  • Execute assessment and monitor of the potential qualification status of the model(s) in line with the relevant Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) 
  • Ensure targets on Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for duties paid & quality of master data (e.g, Harmonized System (HS) codes, Country of Origin, etc) are achieved
  • Contribute to the SCM Operation function meeting all the set targets for Cost, Quality, Safety, Environment and Delivery as defined by the business in each financial year
  • Whilst respecting sound principles and processes, challenge the traditional automotive supply chain thinking, seek to emulate where appropriate the best practices from high tech and retail industries by adopting digital solutions where commercially viable

What you will bring:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in international trade with knowledge of trade compliance processes and the interplay with global supply chain
  • International trade business acumen including tariff classifications, customs valuation, customs authorisations, preferential origin determination, free trade agreements background
  • Desirable to have experience of working with French and UK customs authorities related to UK and EU regulations
  • Automotive experience preferred or similar dynamic environment,
  • Experience of working with SAP is an advantage
  • Create strong cross-functional working relationships that create value through identifying and implementing change,
  • Demonstrated understanding of the importance of effective customs processes in critical supply chain operations. Including transportation, carrier management, lean inventory and vehicle export and import,
  • Must be innovative, challenging, and entrepreneurial, believes in continuous improvement and the application of lean principles
  • Proficient in French
  • Effective in English communication
