about the role

  • Provide independent, transparent cost control across a complex portfolio of capital projects, turnarounds and operating expenditure
  • Act as a trusted advisor to budget holders, challenging assumptions and driving cost discipline
  • Support delivery of a multi-million-pound portfolio through robust forecasting, risk identification and early intervention
  • MyTrack (contractor management software) coordination across multiple term contractors, ensuring efficient daily settlement, system integrity and issue resolution

What does the day to day look like?

  • Deliver monthly cost reporting including Value of Work Done (VOWD) and forward forecasts, with clear insight into risks and variances
  • Lead monthly cost reviews with budget holders, providing challenge and driving accountability for spend and forecast accuracy
  • Monitor project commitments and expenditure to ensure alignment with approved budgets and sanction limits
  • Validate contractor spend and VOWD through system interrogation and engagement with delivery teams to ensure accurate, auditable reporting
  • Manage and control project change through robust tracking and reporting of change orders, ensuring transparency between actual and forecast costs
  • Proactively identify cost trends and emerging risks, escalating early and supporting corrective actions
  • Ensure timely and accurate closure of purchase orders and full financial close of projects and work scopes
  • Coordinate MyTrack processes across several term contractors driving daily settlement process, coordinating the INEOS authorisers and vendor timekeepers, providing support and troubleshooting errors and overrides

what do I need?

  • Appropriate Quantity Surveying or Cost Engineering qualification beneficial but not essential
  • Previous experience in a Cost Engineering role required with experience working in multi-stakeholder environments
  • Familiarity with Maximo/SAP/PowerBI/MCI myTrack systems desirable along with strong Excel skills showing confidence working with detailed cost estimates and cost reports
  • Strong commercial acumen and the ability to challenge constructively
  • Self-starter and comfortable with communications at all levels in the organisation
