ABOUT OUR OPPORTUNITY
We have a contract opportunity for a Corrosion Engineer to join our Inspection & Integrity team. The Corrosion Engineer will develop risk based inspection strategies and assess / advise on impact of deterioration mechanisms on the integrity, reliability and useful life of assets.
Key accountabilities
- Provide materials, corrosion & integrity expertise necessary for compliance with the law, national and INEOS standards and business targets.
- Contribute to Asset Life Extension assessments and studies, system integrity reviews.
- Perform Corrosion Threat Assessments within the RBI for new and ageing assets. Manage RBIs using integrity management software. Lead / contribute to RBI reviews as required.
- Identify and assess damage mechanisms for equipment and systems and determine susceptible locations and failure modes.
- Establish corrosion rates and remnant life of equipment / systems, identify corrosion protection barriers and make recommendations for system monitoring.
- Contribute to work scopes prior to enactment and review findings from inspections / metallurgical replication during normal operations and turnaround events.
- Participate in and provide input to the regular review of corrosion management information such as Corrosion Control Matrices and Key Performance Indicators.
- Set up and chair Corrosion & Integrity Management review meetings and coordinate actions arising.
- Provide support on materials, coatings, insulation and fireproofing selection.
- Perform CUI risk assessments and support the development of CUI work scopes.
- Undertake failure investigations and interpret reports. Contribute to root cause analyses.
- Provide technical interpretation of corrosion and inspection monitoring data.
- Develop and manage interfaces with other companies, to deliver the safe operation and integrity of assets.

ABOUT YOU
You should:
- Have a professional Engineer, degree qualified and chartered. NACE / ICorr / IOM3 membership desirable.
- Have a degree in Metallurgy, Materials or Corrosion Engineering preferable.
- Have significant engineering experience, predominantly in the Oil/Gas, Refining or Petrochemicals industry.
- Have business awareness and commercial understanding.
You may also:
- Have a detailed understanding of corrosion mechanisms and working knowledge of Metallurgy / Materials / Corrosion, particularly in top-tier COMAH sites or high hazard upstream sites.
- Have practical knowledge of national and international standards, codes and best practices.
- Have knowledge of Risk Based Inspection practices.
- Proficiency with Integrity Management Software such as Credo, S-RBI, COABIS etc.
- Development of Integrity Operating Windows.
- Have development and implementation of Corrosion Management Strategies.
- Process Excursion Investigation, Monitoring, Sampling and key performance indicator (KPI) tracking.
