Corporate Analyst/ Economist, Energy Group

ORGANISATIONAL CONTEXT & JOB PURPOSE

At INEOS Energy we produce and trade oil, gas & liquefied natural gas (LNG) with activities in Denmark, UK, Onshore US & US Gulf. This is supported by our investments in low carbon technologies, which will help sustain our business through the energy transition. Direct examples of these areas are ‘Project Greensand’, our pioneering carbon storage project in the Danish North Sea and our investment in HydrogenOne Capital.

Reporting directly to the Chief Economist, the Corporate Analyst / Economist will play a key role within the Energy Group, taking responsibility for the economic and financial modelling that underpins business planning, financing, and M&A activities with close collaboration with the Chief Economist. The role involves close collaboration with senior management, commercial, and technical teams to deliver robust economic insights that support strategic decision-making across the portfolio.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Co-own the long-term corporate planning modelling activities for the combined Energy Group, collaborating with local economists to consolidate forecasts and assumptions. The outputs are used for business planning and financing purposes
  • Lead the economic modelling of corporate M&A activity, working closely with the commercial and technical teams to develop valuation cases, assumptions and sensitivities. This includes asset / corporate acquisitions as well as initial screenings of assets, companies and countries
  • Prepare clear, well-structured analysis and presentations for the Board, supporting decision making in the Energy Group
  • Review asset economic evaluations for existing assets for the purpose of evaluating development options and investments
  • Ensure the economic spreadsheet models, systems and processes are maintained, updated and remain robust, including leading further development of these as necessary

 

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION & SKILLS

Education/Experience

  • A relevant degree within business, finance, economics or related disciplines
  • Solid corporate finance experience, particularly in valuation and financial modelling
  • Proven ability to work with large complex datasets and financial models
  • Experience within upstream economics / RBL modelling is highly desired 

Technical Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Highly numerate with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Understanding of financial accounting and reporting
  • High level verbal and written communication skills in English

N.B. The role will be based out of our London or Virum offices, depending on candidate location. Occasional travel between the two locations may be required.
