Control Systems Engineer

JOB PURPOSE

This position requires the ability to understand the functionality of control systems and the use of this knowledge to develop advanced controls to optimize the process using existing platforms and to spec upgrades/replacements to stay ahead of obsolescence. 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Understands and implements the INEOS Safety Principles. 
  • Adheres to and supports the INEOS Life Saving Rules. 
  • Build and maintain process models of assigned units as necessary. 
  • Provide technical support to the Technical, Operations, and Maintenance departments in troubleshooting operations. 
  • Establish communications with appropriate plant personnel. 
  • Conduct investigations as needed, and report results with appropriate conclusions and recommendations.  
  • Ability to influence peers and management. 
  • Ability to manage capital projects related to Control Systems. 
  • Basic understanding of electronic systems, P&ID’s, and fluid dynamics necessary 
  • Must work well and communicate with others effectively and professionally. 
  • Must be available for rotation of after-hours and/or weekend call outs. 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Experience 

  • Experience with advanced controllers, DeltaV Advance Controls is preferred.  
  • Aspen RTO experience a plus. 
  • Experience with Emerson DeltaV preferred. 
  • Minimum 5 years plant experience in Control Systems Engineering required. 

Education 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Control Systems Engineering or equivalent work experience. 
  • Nitriles manufacturing experience beneficial 

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES

  • Technical & Functional Skills, including a strong control systems/engineering background. 
  • Proficiency in MS-Office Excel, PI and vendor-specific software required. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to climb fixed ladder cages at heights of 30 ft. at a time.  Total of 200 ft.  (employee may need ladders as means of egress during emergency). 
  • Ability to climb 6 flights of stairs.  
  • Ability to enter enclosed spaces through 18” man-way for cleaning and inspection purposes. 
  • Ability to lift 50 lb. 
  • Ability to wear required PPE: Hardhat, safety glasses, chemical goggles, face shield, rigid safety shoes/boots, full/half face cartridge masks.  
  • Ability to work length of time outdoors/ inclement weather. 
  • Job specific:  Climbing, balance, bend/stoop, kneeling, reaching, lifting, carrying. 
  • Need to evaluate understanding of proper lifting techniques and body mechanics.
