FPS is a 100% INEOS-owned integrated oil and gas liquid transportation and processing system with a nominal capacity in excess of one million barrels per day serving the central area of the North Sea.

Oil and gas liquids from over 50 offshore fields and St Fergus flow through pipelines into FPS. FPS transports crude oil and gas liquids from offshore and onshore entry points, processes the liquids at Kinneil and redelivers to the customer Forties Blend crude oil at Hound Point and either Raw Gas or fractionated Gas Products at Grangemouth.

Job Purpose

Join a team of Automation & Control engineers reporting to the working team leader, as lead IT Specialist Engineer - Control and Automation.  
This job offers an excellent opportunity to grow, learn, develop and adapt your skills in the process automation environment. Training and development will be provided through specialist vendor formal training with support to achieve chartered status. 

Principle Accountabilities

The successful candidate will be based in Headquarters supporting all assets across FPS as a Subject Matter Expert in the field of IT within the Process Control and Automation environment. This will include:

  • Managing an asset for projects support and DCS system upgrades. 
  • Managing cyber security compliance with a focus on Implementing security gap closure projects across FPS;
    • Commissioning and maintaining new real time data capture systems across OT/& IT boundaries. Intrusion detection and protection systems.
    • Upgrading and Maintaining Solarwinds Event Manager, NPM, SAM, Netflow and Network Configuration Manager  
    • Process Control Network and Firewall management; Configuration, upgrades and maintenance Conformance to DMZ and security (Firewall Polices / ACL)
  • Drive forward the capability and management of disaster recovery, Incident response and business continuity planning. Leading desktop exercise and scenario planning. 
  • Support and maintain voice and data LAN and WAN network solutions based predominantly on Cisco products integrated within the process control network.
  • Support for significant areas of capital investment in Process Control, Automation and system integration, managing the IT security and architecture for projects from design to commissioning.
  • You'll play a part in the leadership and management of control server migrations, responsible for Identity and access control management, active directory; Group and user policy, security and system management.
  • Manage the migration from server to Virtualisation technologies across FPS – all assets
  • Manage and maintain the vendor EpO and WSUS system
  • Carry out baseline IT security audits and produce gap and improvement plans
  • You'll work alongside senior Automation & Control engineers in a collaborative environment to; 
    • Build an in-depth knowledge of DCS and PLC systems; configuration, management & maintenance
    • Develop innovative solutions to improve productivity and reduce costs using new technology and solutions to target normalised inefficient process and practice.
    • Upgrade and manage a fully automated OT backup and restore system
    • Develop maintain and improve the current Cyber Security Management System; procedures, registers and simple network drawings.

Qualifications and technical experience

  • BSc Degree or equivalent experience in IT, Computer Science or related discipline is required
  • IT experience working with software development teams providing application development and/or support
  • Understanding or knowledge of end to end secure network concepts, technologies and protocols including Access control, Next generation, Web application and Stateful firewalls technologies, Intrusion prevention, Encryption (IPSEC, SSL, PKI), Security event information management systems, Proxy services
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem diagnosis skills
  • Experience in IT development, deployment and support best practices along with an understanding of application support environments.
  • An understanding of server and workstation maintenance, Microsoft, Virtualisation VMware, Unix/Linux knowledge Platform Technology
  • An understanding of; MPLS, Secure and resilient routing solutions, Unified communications, Load balancing and traffic management, Quality of Service (QOS), Wireless and Mobile communications
  • An understanding of network infrastructure design and best practice principles including routing and switching concepts and technologies, advanced IP addressing, dynamic routing protocols.
  • Advanced IT Compliance (Basic knowledge of ISA 99)
  • OPC protocol and tunnelling knowledge
  • An understanding of Cyber Security; Governance, Protection, Monitoring and Recovery principles and application.
