FPS is a 100% INEOS-owned integrated oil and gas liquids transportation and processing system with a nominal capacity in excess of one million barrels per day; serving customers in the central area of the North Sea.

Oil and gas liquids from over 50 offshore fields and St Fergus, are transported through FPS pipelines from offshore to onshore entry points. They are then processed at Kinneil and redelivered to customers as Forties Blend crude oil at Hound Point, and Raw Gas or fractionated Gas Products at Grangemouth.

Having committed to ~$500million investment over the next 5 years, we now require a Contracts Specialist to play a key role in the delivery and support of our 2040+ FPS rejuvenation strategy.

Our Contracts Specialist will be responsible for a variety of procurement and contracting duties within the end to end procurement of services & materials lifecycle, in connection with onshore and offshore business requirements and across all assets comprising the Forties Pipeline System (“FPS”) (including in relation to Net Zero projects). These duties include identifying business demand, conducting market analysis, tendering, evaluation and drafting/negotiating contracts.

Contracting activities post award of contract include evaluating supplier performance to determine necessity for amendments to contracts and ensuring compliance to contractual and performance obligations.

This role will initially provide support across different work-scopes, but will evolve into taking leadership of a number of defined activities.

The procurement function is under transformation – this is a unique opportunity to help build a new procurement function to support our ambitious plans. This role will play a key role in providing support on our improvement initiatives.

principle accountabilities

  • Developing a thorough understanding of FPS Procurement Processes, contracts and related guidance and INEOS Group Guidance Notes (“IGGNs”) and advising colleagues on the application of these forms and guidelines as required.
  • Development of contracting plans and strategies through establishing business demand, carrying out market analysis and identifying FPS value add opportunities through ‘go to market’ activities.
  • Strategy execution by developing tender documentation and evaluation tooling, market enquiries and negotiation that underpins FPS’s business priorities.
  • Developing recommendations to award contracts and taking the contract through the award, drafting, negotiation and execution cycle.
  • Management of commercial and performance elements of FPS contracts, including contract amendments.
  • Liaising with the FPS Legal manager as required in the course of the negotiation and preparation of procurement contracts.
  • Acting as the FPS Procurement Team interface with the Legal Manager on contentious issues arising under FPS procurement contracts.
  • Ensuring compliance with the INEOS Group Supplier Code of Conduct and other ethical requirements.
  • Regular reporting to the Contract Services Lead and Procurement Manager in relation to ongoing procurement matters.

Special features

FPS has assets between Aberdeen, Dalmeny and Grangemouth – travel is not considered necessary, or will be infrequent. The role will be based in the Grangemouth office.

qualifications and technical experience

  • Applicants should have attained an English or Scots law degree (LLB) at 2:1 or higher. Please note that applicants are not required to be qualified solicitors. The role is not providing legal advice but using legal training to support the FPS Procurement Team with the tendering, negotiation and management of legal documents.
  • This role requires an individual with the confidence to interact with and support other team members within the FPS business and its supplier base in relation to complex contractual and commercial issues.
  • The role requires a self-starter who displays initiative and a ‘can-do’ approach; someone who can work independently.
  • The role requires a strong team player who can influence, support and instruct others.
  • Applicants must be competent in the use of Microsoft applications (such as Microsoft Word, Excel etc.).
  • Desirable: prior experience working within businesses engaged in the heavy industry, manufacturing, energy or infrastructure sectors.
  • Desirable: diploma in legal practice.
