Consolidated Financial Accountant

At INEOS Energy we produce and trade oil, gas, liquefied natural gas (LNG) and carbon credits. This is supported by our investments in low carbon technologies, which will help sustain our business through the energy transition. Direct examples of these areas are ‘Project Greensand’, our pioneering carbon storage project in the Danish North Sea and our investment in HydrogenOne Capital.

Reporting directly into the Financial Reporting Manager the successful candidate will take a prime role within the Finance team delivering the financial information for the INEOS Energy group.

RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

Financial Information for decisions:

  • Prepare consolidated financial statements for Energy UK Group half year and year end, including ESG reporting and compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
  • Prepare statutory accounts for UK legal entities (IFRS and FRS101) using Thomson Reuters OneSource Accounts Production system.
  • Perform and coordinate the timely submission of the monthly Group financial statements to HFM system and Inter-company confirmations.
  • Complete the monthly Inter-company / RBL loan / debt cost transactions and revaluation.
  • Reconcile Balance Sheet accounts on a quarterly basis.
  • Assist the Audit team for Group and Statutory Audit.
  • Advise on accounting treatment for extraordinary and non-routine business transactions.

Process improvements and ad-hoc projects

  • Develop and maintain an approach of continuous improvement to financial reporting, SAP and business process issues to ensure maximum value is added to business decision-making processes.
  • Undertake ad-hoc projects – supporting the development of new financial strategies and M&A activity.

Line Management

  • Act as a mentor for the Finance Apprentices.
  • Act as a backup within the Finance team in particular, accounts payable, accounts receivable and bank reconciliation process.

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

  • Business Degree in Finance, Accounting or equivalent
  • ACA or equivalent professional qualifications
  • Experience in a major international group
  • Ability to use modelling tools and present outcomes simply and concisely
  • Ability to use SAP (reports & workflow usage required)
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Highly numerate with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Analytical
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)

  • Working knowledge of developments in accounting standards (IFRS and UK GAAP) and corporate governance/ reporting
